Recruiting Forum Football Talk III

Ben McKee just said on Swain Event that a recruit he interviewed over the weekend said that "when you think of Tennessee, you don't expect much".
Tennessee just hasn't been good in 20 years.
We’re on a level with Nebraska and Colorado. You can find video on YouTube of us being good but it’s all grainy and distorted.

It’s hard to blame the recruit in question when I feel the same way. Coach after coach after coach has failed so spectacularly that it suggests a systemic issue.

For VN Dads:

I may seem quiet and reserved, but if you mess with my daughter, I will break out a level of crazy that will make your worst nightmare seem like a happy place.

And for the VN elders:

Don’t mess with old people. The older we get, the less “Life in Prison “ is a deterrent.

🤠

I mean, if he is referring to football that is an entirely fair point, and I cannot blame the kid for saying it. It's why "history" doesn't really matter to kids even though I hear a lot of people talk about how certain programs are more appealing because they have a "rich history."

However, basketball and baseball are trending waaaayyyy up so would find it hard to believe that would be the case for a recruit in one of those sports.

Old man strong. Even better if paired with country strong.

I feel this way about Lynard Skynard. It might be because I got so sick of Freebird that I could not stand it.

Don’t listen to Freebird or Sweet Home alabama.

But otherwise some great songs:
“Don’t ask me no questions.”
“Call me the breeze.”
And one of my all time favorite songs:
“I know a little.”

If you get away from the first two, they have some great songs.

Change your last sentence to “unworthy coach after unworthy coach after unworthy coach has failed so expectantly that it suggests an incompetent administration.”

Then I totally agree.

So I missed the great oldies rock band debate. Oh well, you get my group anyway. Some of us are old enough to know who Procol Harum, Jethro Tull, EL&P, ELO, Black Oak Arkansas, The Outlaws (Green Grass and High Tides will always be the guitar GOAT), etc. were. Pink Floyd, YES, Moody Blues, Seger, Marshall Tucker, Allman Bros, Skynard, and on and on depending on mood and setting. Mainstreamers - The Who, Journey, CCR, Doobies (no, Trippie, not the same thing), Eagles, etc.

Who has more potential to rebound to elite status - Nebraska, Colorado, Tennessee?

Even without orange colored lenses, it's UT IMO. Heup/DW know what to do. Give them the resources to go do it. UCF made it to the national stage and conversation without much to go on other that George O'Leary's work. UT can get there over the next few years and remain there with more resources, tradition, etc.

It’s definitely Tennessee. Just have to see it to believe it.

I have always found it kinda funny that when people really talk about great bands and music most of the groups mentioned are from the 60's and 70's. Most of todays groups will be forgotten by next week much less talked about 50 or 60 years from now.
To counter that argument. You old folks only listen to band from the 60s, 70s, and 80s and don't bother with the new stuff because you know you like those bands (nothing wrong with that). Hard rock/metal has expanded so much that it is difficult not to find bands you'd like. Personally I like metal core (metal with clean and rough vocals).

I really believe they are building a team for the long run and not trying to plug and play. I have said it before but just look at the OL recruits they are going after. These kids are going to be developed and not placed in a spot just because they have a lot of stars behind their name. The offensive system will attract the players and the being in the SEC and the TV exposure will get us noticed by those kids with stars that can be developed and then help a couple of years down the road. Build it right and you can win for a long time and not just a season or two.

The schedule we have this season is doable, our first 7 games are all winnable except Florida. Can yall imagine the hype if we head into the Florida game 3-0? I think it is very possibly we do that, and USCjr, Mizzou, and Ole Miss are all very winnable games imo. I think if we can head into the bama game 5-2 rhat will cause our brand and recruiting to sky rocket
