The problem is that even with increases to budgets now, it is impossible to quickly rebuild and replace the decades of experience of the cops who retired early. You cannot replace accumulated time, no matter how much money you throw at it. An effective police force is a product of time as well as money. You can just go out and „buy“ one instantlyIn last year's (or the year before's) budget our city council drastically cut policing budgets. Queue huge increases in violent crime all over the city, business leaving, multiple shootings in the "nice" downtown, and on and on. Multiple officers have quit and the police force is an absolute fraction of what it was. Now queue up the council giving a HUGE budget increase to police in the FY22 budget.
I have thought that some, but that would require long term strategic planning. The Democrats don’t usually do that as witnessed by their shortsighted frenzy to do away with the Fillabuster in the Senate. The Democrats will thank their stars in 2023 if they still have the filliibuster when THEY find themselves in the minority again. Sometimes I think the Republicans should let them eliminate it so they can run roughshod over them in 18 months. You think they would have learned their lesson from Reid doing away with the judicial filibuster. The Dims despise Gorsuch, Kavenaugh, and Bennett but the ironic thing is they could have stopped them if they hadn’t been so anxious for a quick victory earlier. No they knew that all along. They created a problem intentionally so they could argue that gun control is needed to solve it.
OK... how about the center left?I know we toss around labels super carelessly here, but I'm pretty sure that actual leftists hate Biden and think he's part of the problem.
There aren't any on this board as far as I have seen (admittedly I am a less frequent visitor than many) so I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for communications from them.
