Unlike others here, I don’t mind a couple of the other Gator posters. But Jaws drives me right around the bend. Which of course is his intent. Amazing that people don’t see through this.
I agree, if I have to put up with a gator posting here, I can tolerate Lawrence. Jaws can GTFO.

I have a question and I'm being serious. I'm just curious what someone else's thoughts are on something I read from someone I have much respect for. The conversation was on how advanced we are and how many opportunities are available to us now than they were 50 years ago.

And I quote...

"Even the poorest families today live more comfortable than wealthy people did just a half a century ago".

no

I can find a lot of people now who would happily trade their lot for Howard Hughes' lifestyle. Perhaps the person was saying that the entertainment and educational potential of the internet provides a level of comfort that makes living in squalor more bearable? To expound, I might agree with that sort of theory based on some time spent in Venzuela about a decade ago. Chavez made sure everyone had food and a smart phone. Many were still living in favellas constructed of reclaimed garbage material while waiting for the next mudslide to take out their whole neighborhood, but they were just as distracted by those shimmering screens as the phone junkies I see every day in this country who obliviously endanger the health and safety of themselves and others rather than sever gaze from phone.

Lulz, I really should stay out of the FF. It's just comical in a sad way. I mean, I can't even make some stuff up. Does no one pay attention anymore? Can't they not read or comprehend what they read? It's almost too much work.

I refuse to use blue font even when I'm blue fonting. But I shouldn't need blue font when my sarcasm is explained in my comment literally 2 posts up.

I think it really depends on the situation, where you live, education, motivation etc. For instance, I have a friend that makes a decent living solely from his YOUTUBE channel working from his house. He only has a HS level education, never learned a trade, can’t stand physical labor, but he is very tech savvy. If he was living 50 years ago I doubt he would have the same lifestyle without modern technology. Not sure if this was the perspective you were looking for.

Yeah, thanks both of you. My dad put together 64 page book for family and friends. Long story but I just finished reading it and will have to give him my thoughts. When I read that I wondered if it might get misunderstood. You both seem to get the jest of what he meant, but I thought he could have said it better.

That said, he's not a writer and he didn't want to do this, some family members pressured him in to it.

Of course that’s a ludicrous assertion.

I think that is fantastic. I may do something like that for my granddaughter.

I call BS. I'm turning 56 very soon. My memory is more than good enough to recall many people that were better off then than I am now.
