Walter Shaub, the director of the United States Office of Government Ethics under President Obama, said the Biden administration is sending a "f--- you" to ethics experts by hiring so many relatives of senior White House officials.

Press secretary Jen Psaki, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, national security adviser Jake Sullivan, senior adviser Anita Dunn, White House counselor Steve Richetti, deputy chief of staff Bruce Reed and presidential personnel office director Cathy Russell each have at least one direct family member working for the Biden administration.

"I'm sorry, I know some folks don't like hearing any criticism of him. But this royally sucks. I'm disgusted," Shaub wrote in a Twitter thread Friday, reacting to an article about the family ties of Biden officials.

"A lot of us worked hard to tee him up to restore ethics to government and believed the promises," Shaub added, calling the string of family-related hires "a real ‘f*** you’ to us—and government ethics."

"EVEN THE F-ING HEAD OF PRESIDENTIAL PERSONNEL, WHO IS SUPPOSED TO BE KEEPING THEM HONEST, HAS A CHILD WHO'S A RECENT COLLEGE GRAD WORKING IN THE ADMINISTRATION. AND THE SPOUSE OF THE WHITE HOUSE CHIEF OF STAFF, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD," Shaub added.

We should all have a real problem with this regardless of stances on abortion. It should be implicit that the hands off agreement goes both ways - that the government doesn't meddle in church affairs and vice versa. When Kennedy ran for president, the idea that the Catholic church could force compliance by excommunication and/or other punitive measures was an issue. Obviously for good reason because it is nothing less than blackmail when a religion would attempt to force its beliefs on political decisions. That should be the breaking point when religious/charitable exemptions and protections end, and the religion is treated as any other for profit business.

Yep, there's a big difference in true misinformation and information that a particular person or group simply doesn't like. This trends dangerously close to censorship. On the other hand, there doesn't seem to be much honest in depth reporting anywhere these days.

If Joe Biden is leveraging aid in order to pressure the Ukrainian government's leadership into announcing an investigation into Donald Trump? Absolutely.

Per the body of the article, that doesn't appear to be the case, though. The hold is a response to a Russian drawback of forces. This is an example of Fox News going in search of stories which advance a desired narrative (usually involving some alleged hypocrisy by democrats or 'the mainstream media'). This is hardly the same thing as what Trump was impeached for near the end of 2019, but it does serve the purpose of stoking right-wing resentment.

That Donald Trump leveraged aid to the Ukraine as a means of pressuring President Zelensky into announcing an investigation into the Bidens, was proven. Even former Republican Senator Lamar Alexander acknowledged that in a statement posted to Twitter near the end of the Senate trial in January of 2020. Sen. Alexander specifically said that calling new witnesses, such as John Bolton, wasn't necessary because the House managers had already proven their case.

A reduction of an impending threat is highly relevant to such aid.

No. That is you claim. And no it isn’t fact. But seriously thanks for replying exactly as I expected you to. Biden has reneged on previously agreed to and funded military aid to an ally. This is a heinous offense per your hyperbolic ramblings from before. He reneged on an unrelated Russian movement, it’s silly to even posit that as a valid reason to withhold the aid. Especially after all of the bluster leading up to the event. Simply put, Biden caved and was played. No this isn’t impeachable. There is no evidence the two events are even connected right now. But boy it sure is convenient that less than 48 hours after he sees Putin he makes a clearly unexpected play at withholding badly needed aid which had your side screeching before. Thanks for exactly the response I expected.

The nature of the threat posed by Russian troops is tied to United States military aid. That is a ridiculous thing to say, during what really is a very weak effort at exposing what you would clearly like to think of as democratic party "hypocrisy".

This could have been so easy for you to not play the shill but you couldn’t help yourself.

The aid package Trump held up was still delivered within the allotted timeline. I made that point to you myself. This aid package could have just as easily been delivered within the mandated timeline I don’t know. If it was then it’s a non issue. The WH is claiming they complied. If they were within the timeline agreed upon then it’s EXACTLY as the prior situation. This story is still developing after all.

But you had to trip all over yourself justifying that it’s right to withhold the package… and the WH is claiming the package wasn’t withheld. So I look forward to reading your next reply on why that was the correct course of action. Thanks for playing.

That is an outright lie. The Ukraine did not receive the aid by September 30th. We have been over that before.
