I honest to God don't know how kids are going to be able to financially survive as adults.
Average home price in middle TN is now $500,000 in the suburbs. This gets you into the suburbs now, not the upper end of the suburbs.
New cars don't even exist hardly anymore as they are going to SUVS that start at 30K and quickly go to 50K if you have a family and need space.
Food is going up.
Fast food is pretty much gone except for Mcdonalds and Wendys and has been replaced with meals that cost 12 dollars.
Gas is now 3 bucks plus again.
I honestly feel sorry for this upcoming generation. They are hosed.
You have the same asshats we have here. When we first moved here, every spring the air was perfumed with orange blossoms. Since the farmers found that developers will pay more than oranges... haven't smelled them in a good 10-15 years. Our local politicians suck.
Got a two lane road.
Want to put 2,200 homes on it?
Sure no problem at all. Just build a side walk and we will figure the traffic out later.

Join the club comrade. In my community someone decided that a major employer a few miles from my house needed a better road exit from their plant and made a 5000 employee plant that used to empty into a 4 lane divided highway have the option to travel straight across and empty into a 2 lane county road. Oh and a couple of options is to cross into my neighborhood and scream through at 60 while kids are riding bikes and people are walking dogs. I've learned to stay off the road when they have their staggered shift changes between 2 and 5 in the afternoon.Your asshats allowing apartment communities to be built everywhere too? These fools approved 2 massive apartment complexes on a 2 lane road they can't widen.
Slightly different issues, but basically the same. They plow under the orange groves.. which are sponges for all the rain, and pave them over. The rain has nowhere to go since we are 3 feet above sea level and 10 miles away (think about a "flat" roof slope), sooooo... errybody starting to see more flooding and wondering why.Your asshats allowing apartment communities to be built everywhere too? Hey, I pay $3.95 a month on my utility bill to pay for "stormwater fees mandated by congress" are you telling me that you guys in Florida are not paying your fair share?Slightly different issues, but basically the same.
