The Atlanta Braves

And that’s why I feel hopeless.

I wouldn’t feel hopeless at all. You can make the argument we have more under 25 talent that has done well at the MLB level more than anyone in baseball. Ian, Ynoa, Soroka (health I know still only 23) Riley, Contreras, Ozzie, Ronnie is a hell of a building block. And that doesn’t include anyone in the minors. I still like where we are going just because of the young talent. So not all is lost. But it does feel like AA/Snit is not a winning combo.

Look, the Royals were run by Dayton Moore and Ned Yost but had so much young talent and made the right couple of trades that they ended up making back to back WS and won the damn thing in 2015. Davey Martinez is a bad manager but had enough talent to win a title as well. You can win without great management. The question is AA gonna get off his ass and go get his Ben Zobrist and Johnny Cueto to get to the top.

The Rays have the best record in the game. Liberty Media isn’t the problem.

True, you don’t need high payroll to win. I just want to know why we are so conservative. AA wasn’t like this in Toronto. Liberty Media doesn’t care as long we don’t go over budget. Terry McGuirk seems to have no interest in baseball moves. Hell even John Schuerholz was aggressive. It’s like AA’s balls dropped off when he got to LA. And if AA could find or hire a staff that could develop like Tampa I wouldn’t care as much. But obviously he can’t.

They have mismanaged a stunning number of our prospects. What makes you think they buck this trend?

This is why I move Riley and Pache

I mean I don’t agree with our pitching philosophy and that has hurt some of our guys I agree. But our hitting prospects have hit. Acuna is the franchise, Ozzie is an elite second baseman. Willy looks like a legit MLB hitter (and he’s never played AAA). Riley has been awesome this year. Dansby is probably the one you can say was mismanaged (called up way too soon for the new park) but that was previous regime.

The Ozuna issue is a dark cloud. There is no way he’s coming back to the team. Hell he’s looking at jail time anyways. But if they have to eat the whole contract…that is gonna really hurt.

They’ve thrown Pache to the wolves and have let Waters expire in the minors.

1) Ehhh…maybe they should have waited but he didn’t look out of place in the Dodgers series and knew offensively it would take time.

2) Waters is 22 and has a 115 wRC+ in AAA, I don’t know what you mean by the fact he is “expire” in the minors lol. He’s still a top 50-60 consensus prospect in the industry.

I don’t think AA is being conservative as much as I think he’s allocating money to the wrong places

After 2018, we had Touki, Newk, Wright, Wilson and Allard…all considered top 100 prospects at some point, all pitching prospects…and all we got was Chris Martin. And none of those guys would bring anything meaningful back now. That’s is being way too conservative.

Now this year? Yeah he allocated money like **** this year. We could have had Greene, Duvall and Melancon for right around $11M and we’d be in much better place

The Freddie decision is a big deal IMO. We should seriously be considering trading him at the deadline if

A. We have a bad month
B. If we don’t intend on signing him
C. May need to do it anyway honestly
