The Japanese also abide by very strict social norms that restrict speaking out as a societal norm while we are supposed to celebrate speaking your mind. I'm not saying it's a bad thing but merely a cultural difference that exaggerates a lack of true freedom of speech as we know it.

They ship jobs out because the government taxes them through the roof so they find savings elsewhere. Labor is a huge expense for companies so if you can get it cheaper elsewhere then you offset your tax bill and make a profit. They aren't "evil". They are in business to make fracking money, not sing kumbaya.

You can’t? My monthly bills/expenses are totaled around $1500 a month. That’s 2400 a month plus 1500 thrown in every 6 months. I could easily live off of it. I mean good lord it’s 32,000 a year to do nothing

My kids want dessert every night. They ask and they whine and they complain when they don't get it. If I gave them what they wanted so they would "like" me (like the politicians are prone to do) then their would likely be consequences down the road. Their health might suffer, they would enter adulthood thinking that they can get what they want if they bisch and moan loudly, and they would not learn the valuable lesson of delayed gratification. When parents and authority figures allow the younger generations to behave in this manner and reward them by giving them what they want alllllll the time then our society forgets how to earn things and just wants them handed to them. Hence the push for free healthcare for all, free college tuition, student load forgiveness, universal income, "affordable" housing, government created jobs, and the list goes on and on and on......

Chappelle didn't used to have worry about sponsorships being pulled from his show because comedy was just considered comedy and something audiences understood as light hearted.

In regards to all of this, I was once there man. I'm 33. Not some boomer. I get it. It's OK for a significant portion of the generation to share flaws. We all have them. The folly is when you try to fight every bit of criticism

That's a recipe for disaster. She has nowhere near enough experience to coach at the top level, nor does Candace. She could get there eventually, but she's a long way from that.

To be fair, what the federal government is "meant to do" is such a broad, ever-changing term that it's impossible to pin it down.

It’s only changing for the reasons being discussed here. It’s kind of a self-licking ice cream cone. It doesn’t have to change. And it shouldn’t change simply for these reasons being discussed, I.e., because certain groups of people want the easy life (and pols are eager to give it because they want votes.) They don’t want to have to earn what they get.

But again, I think it’s the fault of previous generations as much as it is their fault. We’ve allowed them to grow up in such a world. Even fostered it.

They would ship jobs out regardless of tax rates if there are capable people willing to do the job for less. Their job is to make their shareholders money. Pretty much every single person's retirement is dependent on CEOs running their companies in such a way that they make money, so share prices rise and retirement funds grow.

I'm 32, and I'm not trying to argue that our generation doesn't suffer from vanity, or hypocrisy, or downright ****** behavior. But asking for healthcare and education from the worlds richest govt isn't a negative. For some reason people in America think that these things have to be expensive. They don't. We could still, by a long way, spend the most money on our military AND fix one or more of these issues(healthcare needs to be the one, IMO).

Why the heck should people be given free education beyond the 12th grade? Evidence already shows a large number of college students take it for granted, waste people’s time, and don’t belong in college. The same is true of high school, excepting the belonging part.

So now we should just send everybody to college free of charge, regardless of situation or preparation or merit? Without skin in the game? That’s the government way.
Trade schools and such I could be a little more receptive to. But still with some limits.

Wait, wait, wait. The ports got backed up because they weren't designed for this level of activity, and there aren't enough of them on the western coast. And took away people's constitutional right to provide for themselves? When?

The port issues were 100% covid related.

And yes when the federal government shuts down businesses that is absolutely taking away a right to provide. My wife’s business lost 90k in 2020. Lots of restaurants have closed, servers got killed, travel/tourism got killed, hotels got killed. Are you awake?

Experience in coaching is not at all overrated. Pruitt, for instance. At low level business jobs, yes, experience is overrated. But applying super general research to very specific jobs is not good decision science.

Pruitt is a cherrypicked example. Plenty have looked at first time HCs (assistants) at big jobs vs hires with prior HC experience and there seems no difference. Dabo, Riley, Day, Smart are running 4 of the top 5 programs at the moment. Not meant to be a definitive sample, but a general example. The larger research supports it though, every HC has to become one at some point and it seems the greats have innate abilities regardless. Prior experience only helps them the first couple of years.

And not talking low level business jobs, but management. Experience helps temporarily, so if the job contract is short, it makes sense to favor experience. If expected to be long-term, it does not and attributes such as intelligence and conscientousness tend to show more positive correlations.

But I digress...just hoping the best for a VFL...only baseball from here on out
