The Atlanta Braves

You could write a bot in about 30 min that could google stats/game situation win probabilities, have it fill out our lineup card and make appropriate bullpen changes, and save whatever we’re paying snit. I’d take a literal algorithm managing our team at this point.
Snit (and probably 75% of MLB managers) have a job because of the relationships they have with the players. The tactical decisions that are part of managing a baseball team...batting order, when to pinch it, bullpen management, etc., honestly aren't all that complicated. It's way less complicated than football or basketball tactics, and baseball has a much slower pace than other sports allowing the manager to see things coming. Part of any coaching or management job is having good relationships, but baseball is to a very pronounced degree.

You'll still be fired if you're managing 60-win teams, but mediocre managers stick around a long time if the players still love him.

Like Johan is not good anymore probably. But none of those other scrubs have ever even come close to his 2017/2018 production. And Johan is 27 and we have him under team control through 2023 let’s at least see if he can do anything.
There’s nothing wrong with Camargo. Every time he goes to Gwinnett he rakes. PHing is tough, especially for young guys.

I don’t disagree with that and for the past 5 years since he took over in 2016 it hasn’t been a problem in terms of getting guys ready to play. But we see this year it’s different. They aren’t playing with the same passion, urgency and focus as they have the since Snit went full time in 2017. And if he can’t do that part of his job, since he manages like it’s 2002, then he needs to make better decisions or the org needs to find someone better

Agree, I guess my point is that he doesn’t have a relationship with THESE players.

RAJ doesn’t care about that guy. Neither does Ozzie, Dansby, Contreras, any of the starters besides maybe Morton, the bullpen. The roster has turned over. I’d bet a decent bit only Fred cares at all about snit. And he certainly isn’t playing like he cares that much.

And that’s part of it too. All the vets except Freddie are gonna. Markakis, Flowers, Teheran who started with Snit are gone. I’d like to get a bilingual manager at some point (hence why I’ve thrown my hat in for Eddie Perez at times) and we might get a manager that can handle relationships even better!

Lol Julio hated snit

I'm not sure I'd say they aren't playing with the same passion, urgency, or focus. It's easy to play with passion when you're playing well. I still see a lot of passion from the guys who are apt to visibly show it like RAJ and Ozzie. I don't think I or anybody else can really tell if they aren't focused. I think that the passion and effort are there, but they are struggling anyway. As far as urgency, Snit certainly isn't managing with a sense of urgency, but he never has, so that really isn't anything new. And you get away with it when your team is smashing 5 HRs and 10 runs a game like they were last year.

Why wouldn't he have a relationship with RAJ, Ozzie, Contreras, or Dansby? Snit is the only MLB manager those guys have ever known (Dansby was around for 37 games of Fredi, but that's it). If he has non-existent or bad relationships with those guys, then he absolutely needs to go. That's like 90% of his job.

RAJ and Contreras don’t speak English very much and I know Snit isn’t bilingual. Probably isn’t fair to assume, but I have my doubts than Snit is having consistent and deep conversations with Ronnie/Huascar/Willie etc

I hear you, but it isn't like Snit hasn't been around Latin players in his day. It isn't like he's never communicated with guys who don't speak much English before. I'm not sure if this is even the case, but if he can't or won't have relationships with them, then I don't know what the hell he's doing here.

To further your earlier point, maybe it isn’t quite fair to question the effort. Passion can be tied to winning but it doesn’t feel the same as it has in years past. I will absolutely question the focus tho. The defensive and base running mistakes we’ve seen this year has not happened the past 3 years.

Fair enough, although defensive and base running mistakes are magnified when you aren't doing multiple things well and games are close. If there are numbers that show those have noticeably increased from last year, then perhaps fair to question focus, but consistently mashing a bunch of HRs and scoring a ton of runs has a way of papering over problems in other areas that could have existed in previous years. Which is why that's all everybody tries to do now.

Curious about Darius Vines, he’s 23 in Low A and a 7th round pick from 2019 but striking out guys and the gifs I’ve seen of him show some good stuff

Same for Ricky Devito in high A. 2019 pick, 22 years old. 27/7 walk to K ratio in 21 innings at Rome. Nasty split
