President Joe Biden - Kamala Harris Administration

So, you rear end my car, I have a heart attack a day later. Should you go to prison for vehicular homicide? That's the rabbit hole you're going down here. You're missing the fact that of those that died, they had or quite likely had a pre-existing condition (cardiovascular), with the exception of Ms. Babbit.

You've offered a very smart analogy.

I would think if I rear end you intentionally, say after a road rage incident, with no regard for your safety AND you have a heart attack from the stress of it, I am responsible because my actions led to (or caused) your heart attack. I think the tough part would be proving the MI was a direct result of my actions on the road the day before.

No. I do not think people should be shot for damaging property.

What do you think would have happened if that mob actually got to Pelosi or Pence? A casual conversation would ensue? No. They would have been killed or severely beaten.

I have serious doubts either would have happened.

What's the time frame here? Next day, a week, a year?

That's a great question. Obviously, the longer the span of time between incident and fatal health event, the less one can argue causation relative the analogy discussed.

How did you come to this opinion?

Like most rioters deep down they are cowards, if they would have gotten to Pelosi/Pence or any other elected official I doubt anything beyond screaming would have happened. If violence/harm was the intention there would have been guns present.

You may be right. Counterpoint is mobs of people act irrationally, and violently.

True but the SS and capitol police would have been stacking bodies had anyone gotten remotely close to either.

Thanks for the post. TIL the SS protects the leadership of the House and Senate. In that case, there isn't a chance in Tuscaloosa Pelosi would be harmed.

I still don't understand why the Capitol police allowed the group to get out of hand. Has there been any plausible explanation for that as far as you know?

Brian Sicknick, 42

According to statement from the US Capitol police, the New Jersey native joined the force in 2008. Sicknick was reportedly struck in the head with a fire extinguisher while “physically engaging” with the rioters. He collapsed soon after returning to his division before being rushed to a nearby hospital. Sicknick died on Thursday night after being removed from life support.

Ashli Babbitt, 35

Babbitt, a 14-year air force veteran from San Diego, was among a group of people who could be seen attempting to break down the doors of the US Senate chamber as members sheltered. Cameras captured the moment she was rushed out on a stretcher after being shot by a Capitol police officer. She died at the hospital.
Benjamin Phillips, 50

A computer programmer from Schuylkill county, Pennsylvania, Phillips organized a caravan from Pennsylvania to the Capitol grounds for the planned insurrection. Once there, he had a stroke and died, although authorities have not confirmed at what point during the attack.
Kevin Greeson, 55

A native of rural Athens, Alabama, Greeson died of an apparent heart attack at an unknown point during the events. His family confirmed in a statement that a history of high blood pressure “in the midst of the excitement” contributed to the medical emergency.
Rosanne Boyland, 34

The resident of Kennesaw, Georgia, reportedly died of a medical emergency during the riots. Family members later told reporters Boyland had been crushed in the melee.

I don't know. I have a sneaking suspicion the capitol police were told to handle it gently and let the protesters earn some bad press.

@BigOrangeAl 1979 From CBS news:
Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick died of natural causes a day after defending the Capitol during the January 6 assault, the D.C. medical examiner's office announced Monday. Sicknick was previously believed to have died from injuries sustained during the riot.

Dude it’s all out there from several reliable sources. Google and YouTube is your friend. Trump might have won re-election if he wasn’t a narcissist ahole 24/7 and stayed off Twitter some.
None of that really mattered. It was the pandemic and its effects on the economy that cost him reelection.

And most of the people you argue with aren't necessarily Trump supporters. What's funny is your fanatical Trump hate colors your opinion just as much as fanatical Trump love colors the opinions of Trump supporters. Fanaticism fuels hysteria on both sides of the aisle.

That wasn't foul play. That was the police doing their job. They should have shot more of those crazy people maybe they could have stopped it from happening.
So the next time a George Floyd or other such rally turns violent, you're okay with the police opening fire on the crowd, right? Or is it only people you see as Trumpers you want killed?
