No doubt in my mind there is leftward drift. Look at the Ds of the 60s and 70s. More conservative than the "conservative" Rs today.
I think there may be historical evidence which suggests the more prosperous a nation becomes the more the nation moves left. Prosperity provides resources for it to happen gradually. In a car it would be considered out of alignment. But of course there are always the lazy who continue to drive even though the person behind them can see all 4 tires clearly. They also never understand why they buy new tires every year
The move left is due to laziness and govt dependence. It's not the direction taken by a prosperous nation

Prosperity and a populace who figures out that the government can be a fencing operation stealing prosperity from the productive to the benefit of the non-productive.I think there may be historical evidence which suggests the more prosperous a nation becomes the more the nation moves left. Agree. But let's make sure we are honest about who favors the fencing. Liberals love big government. So do republicans. I know we don't like to think that way. But if anyone wants proof start a thread about cutting the spending budget across the board. The sacred cows people are milking on the other side of the fence, belong to both parties.Prosperity and a populace who figures out that the government can be a fencing operation stealing prosperity from the productive to the benefit of the non-productive.
