Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Why should children get this vaccine?

I’ll be honest…
I have four boys, 11,12, 14,17yo. The oldest three all have had Covid. I had them wait three months and get the Pfizer. Of course, as luck
Would have it, the youngest didn’t ever test positive and isn’t old enough to be eligible for vaccine. I’ve done, I think, a pretty good amount of research into the vaccines. I don’t 100% agree that after having it they need it. But I also haven’t seen any significant medical reason they shouldn’t get it. The mRNA vaccine technology has shown to be quite innocuous compared to other vaccine methods and the Pfizer vaccine has had, so far, the best efficacy with the least amount of any adverse reactions.

I'm not shocked, only disappointed that the media still talks about % of population vaccinated rather than percent of eligible population vaccinated. This still leaves out natural immunity but at least it would be a clearer picture of vaccination uptake. It was worse pre approval of 12 - 15 year olds but still a good chunk of the population isn't eligible for the vaccine.

Fact based reporting would describe % in concert with risk and eligibility. It would also include estimates of people with natural immunity via infection.

For example, Congress has hit herd immunity levels via vaccinations and prior infection yet they only report vaccination levels (as self reported which underestimates true level of vaccination).

Just had it.

Weirdest damn symptoms I have ever had.

Severe vertigo, profuse sweating, extreme fatigue, extremely stiff and sore on left side from waist down.

I literally thought I had a stroke.

I have only been sick 2 other times in the past 30 years. I have a very strong immune system and my doctor thinks I picked up one of the more severe versions as i ndver got it when my wife, son, or dad got it.

Even as weird as it was it took about 6 days to knock and then I was fine.

Still not ever getting the shot. It was damn weird but not life threatening scary.

I think people are forgetting that this is a new virus that just showed up out of nowhere and turned into a pandemic rather quickly. Just look back at the first few pages of this thread and you see how scared most of you were and none of us knew what to expect. There is on going research and they are discovering new things all the time, and at the same time new variants are showing up which makes it more challenging.
Why isn’t that same thought pattern applied to Trump? The response to this virus was always a tool of politics and control. I’ve literally never been concerned about it, not even for a fleeting moment. Not even when it came through our house and hit other family members at various times.

It should have been applied to Trump, you are right. It definitely was used against him and it shouldn’t have, it wasn’t fair and unfortunately it’s what lost him the election in my opinion.

Trump screwed himself by downplaying it like it wouldn't spread in the US. I know he said he didn't want to spook everyone, but just go the neutral route. Speak about confidence in American scientific research, doctors, resilience of the American people, ect. Don't feed more bs. The Democrats and media would go after him regardless, but being so colossally wrong publicly made it easy for them.

Sounds like you got lucky. It's your perogative if you want to roll the dice with a disease that's killed over 400k people.

Why is it bad for children to get it? Can you cite some numbers?
Well it's an infectious disease so I imagine it can't be great for them to get it. I know they're not as at risk as adults, that doesn't mean a child's health should be put at risk.

Actually, our bodies need to learn to fight illness. So it is quite fine for them to get it. The numbers literally show that.

Again, show me why it isnt good for them to get it.

Yeah, he definitely never made things easier on himself whether related to COVID or not.

Exactly. Even paragraph two of the article starts with “a relatively small percentage”. Just the usual emotional stupid reply.
So you are willing to put your child's life at risk, even if it's just a small percentage that they'll die? Does your kid know this?
