Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

I want to avoid the aft because of occasional diesel fumes.
I'm talking about the top one or two decks on the ship. Usually forward of midship. Those balconies should be good?

We like just forward of midship and if sailing Carnival like to be on the Lido deck.

McRib has more discriminating expectations than Louder.

Louder right now after no gas

Ahh, I wondered if you meant that. I didn't spend much time on the open upper decks, so I'm not sure how much they look down on the balconies below them - and things vary from ship to ship. That's why once you figure out destination and ship, you want to do homework on individual cabins - including cruise cabin reviews and pictures.

If she wanted to get rid of me forever and make it look like an accident, the higher the balcony the better. Less chance of rescue if I'm knocked unconscious when I hit the water.

She's gonna have to do some cruise ship shopping then because a lot bulge more as you go to the belt-line, and you'd just fall into the balcony below and be pissed off. We haven't been on a cruise ship in probably ten years, and they keep morphing - some even have balconies facing the playgrounds in the middle of the newer ships.

She may not wanna go if there's no chance to dispose of me permanently.

I'm not completely sure I'm following you. If the side is straight up and down, each balcony will be covered by the one above. If the deck steps out as you go down, then the balcony below will be exposed to the one above - no privacy. Ours was half covered and half not, and the suites (or mini suites) below ours were full exposed to our balcony. Hopefully that makes sense. I honestly didn't see much sunlight coming straight down - in fact, our balcony never really seemed to get full sunlight because of the ship's direction and clouds, so don't plan on it always being sunny. I'd love to try one of the rear facing cabins. One warning I read about the cabins facing forward is that at speed there is a problem with room doors if you have the balcony door open - somebody turns the handle and gets ejected down the hall because of the wind. Also because of projecting decks above, even private decks may not be completely private. See how the projections on the Riviera Deck project out beyond the balconies below. When you think you have a room picked out, do a search and see if there are comments about the room - there are websites almost dedicated to cruise ship rooms. Most rooms are pretty much OK.

@McDad doesn't care about privacy. He's not ashamed to be seen nekkid. You must be the only person on VN that hasn't gotten his nudz.

I have always wanted to do one but I have this fear/vision of my drunk ass falling overboard into the ocean and then getting eaten by a shark.

Sharks and dark water are literally the only 2 things I am scared of and both terrify me.

Does it feel easy to fall over?

Let me clarify, if you are drunk is it easy to fall over?

You'd have to really work at it, but people have managed from time to time. You're talking climbing over railings more than waist high.

So if you fall over is there an alarm or are you just gone?

Do you have to walk on the outside to get around or can you stay inside and walk through the bowels?

No, you would have to try to get over the railing. Unless you‘re 8’ tall you have no worries of accidentally falling over.
