Knox County and Tennessee test positivity rate is officially below 5% for the first time since late fall. Knox District "active cases" were down to 748 today, off from the peak of over 13,000 in late December (94% decrease).

Hoping we can turn the corner by July...

I think people are forgetting that this is a new virus that just showed up out of nowhere and turned into a pandemic rather quickly. Just look back at the first few pages of this thread and you see how scared most of you were and none of us knew what to expect. There is on going research and they are discovering new things all the time, and at the same time new variants are showing up which makes it more challenging.

He’s been making it up as he goes along. It was very obvious from before summer of last year. Even then he was already contradicting himself.

He’s a fraud who enjoys the limelight.

Thankfully, thus far, mutations have not escaped naturally- or vaccine-acquired immunity.

I knew it was political theater then. My first post in this thread, and on the first page:

The response has been uncontrolled chaos that sought to control people through fear and pilfering liberties. Any healthy person still voluntarily wearing a mask deserves to have their mental acuity questioned.

In another Very Florida story, a woman with a colorful criminal history has spent the last year collecting media accolades and a half-million dollars in donations by accusing the Republican governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, of fudging the state’s COVID numbers.

Rebekah Jones, website designer (not “scientist,” as the media insistently claim), falsely accused DeSantis of doing what Gov. Andrew Cuomo of New York actually was doing with the COVID numbers. From the extensive media coverage, I figured maybe the DeSantis administration was taking advantage of gray areas to make the state’s record look as good as possible. Not as bad as what Cuomo was doing, but something.

Nope! This whole story was the fantasy of a crazed stalker, as explained in detail by Christina Pushaw in Human Events and Charles Cook in National Review.

The canonization of Rebekah Jones is only the latest example of the press latching onto any lunatic who attacks a Republican. Remember Bill Burkett? (CBS’s deranged source for the fake Bush Air National Guard story.) Jamie Leigh Jones? (Falsely claimed she was gang-raped in Iraq by Halliburton employees.) How about media star and Democratic presidential hopeful Michael Avenatti? (He was going to vanquish Donald Trump and Brett Kavanaugh with Stormy Daniels and Julie Swetnick, until his criminal past caught up with him.)

Mutations don't happen bc of where they are located. They don't happen bc of the length of time it's been around. That makes no sense. Strains happen bc of unpredictable mutation.

I wasn't saying because of location but it's hard to imagine Covid was completely eradicated there and thus the amount of time it's been there is ample to yield mutations. I'd guess that many more mutated strains exist than are documented and I don't see why China wouldn't have it's own variations.
