I think this is a once in a generation opportunity. We need to take advantage and keep TV here for the long haul. If we lose him, it might be many years again before we are relevant in baseball again.

When I look at Miss State and Ole Miss, I see a great outfield atmosphere. Is there room in the outfield at Lindsey Nelson to have that type of atmosphere? I know the stadium kinda rubs up against the river. I’ve only been to a couple baseball games in my lifetime.

Family, friends... all said weed is a gateway to all these other drugs.

Stay clean my friend. I’ve got a a buddy of mine I’ve known my whole life (we were born 8 days apart). We grew up together, played club soccer with each other, high school buddies, etc and he had a bad trip on acid at Bonnaroo a number of years ago and screwed up his life pretty good. Now he’s clean and lives up in Glacier National Park in Montana, being a cook and ski lift operator. I’m happy for him.

Edit: meant to reply to Christian Lowe

Holy cow, after today’s addition I honestly think we could go 9-3.

Think about it. We have a lot of blue chips but they’ve never been developed. We have highly rated QBs who haven’t been coached by a QB whisperer in Coach Hype. We have a motha effin great DL coach when we didn’t even have one last year.

Coach Hype ain’t come here for no year Zero. He’s here to make his mark right now, year 1 is gonna be fun folks!

I’ll be happy with a bowl game, which I think is realistic. We’ve got more talent than some people realize, but no depth and some glaring holes. Guys being unavailable or not full speed will hurt us.

If we can show some fight, have an exciting offense, and at least be fun to watch, I’ll be thrilled. It’s been a while - maybe year 3 of CBJ? - since it was fun to watch UT football.

Debated about posting this - but it seems appropriate based on what I have read from last night into this AM. Ignore if TL;dr.

My wife has two nephews who we thought would end up in the morgue they were so hooked on opiates and stuff. Start running with kids in HS who partied hard and it led to the addictions they seemingly could not kick for 15 years or so.

For one, the permanent loss of a child to the state's placement into the home of the baby momma's parents was not enough. He then hooked up and married an even worse user whose parents were raising her daughter from a previous relationship. They had two sons together and her parents ended up raising them after the relationship ended in divorce. The good part of this nephew was he was functioning in a well paying blue collar job when he could stay reasonably clean. When the divorce happened, something clicked. He started treating his parents with respect and began throwing himself into work. He took serious steps to rehab from the drugs. He hired an attorney to gain visitation rights to his kids. Through that process he met a female attorney who was single. They began dating some months later. Fast forward 4-5 years. The nephew is now 40, he is married to that attorney who is now a magistrate, she just had their child (her first - never married prior to this), he has received full custody of both of his other children from his ex. His current wife absolutely adores and adopted them. The ex continued her drug life so much that the state took away her parental rights. The children are now flourishing when they were getting in trouble at school and acting out previously. A nephew we thought destined for the morgue is a shining light to all around him and a heckuva dad, husband and son. His parents now burst with pride talking about how it all turned out. Redemption.

I could tell a different, but in some ways similar story of redemption about the other nephew, which included one of his ex wives dying of alcoholism before the age of 40 and endangering their child in the terrible conclusion to her life. But the redemption story happened with him as well. His 4 children from his first baby momma and subsequent wives are all doing great. One is now married with a good occupation and a child of her own. He is now married to a successful woman in the medical field who loves his children as her own and his career has taken off.

There is hope if we are willing to put in the work and have faith. It's not how you start, it's how you finish. Which is what we need to remember about the football program. Good times ahead.
