Just curious, do you feel that way about music in general? It's not a song unless there are lyrics?

It's still music. When it comes to TV shows, a "theme song" has words, otherwise it's just the opening music.

I never said I don't like the opening music, just that it has to have words for me to call it a theme song. WKRP in Cincinnati, Family Ties, Cheers, Growing Pains, The Brady Bunch, Gilligan's Island....These all have theme songs.
