Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

It seems to me that to this point there's no evidence that a booster is even needed for these variants. Am I missing something?

Studies like this make me think it’s more likely that we won’t need a booster. Most of the booster talk has come directly from Moderna and Pfizer personnel. Not as much out of any research I’ve seen.

Bracelets help restaurant workers show they got their COVID-19 vaccine

Wearers have to upload their vaccination cards for review before they can receive the band. The documentation is stored on a server compliant with medical privacy laws and the process is end-to-end encrypted, the company said in a news release.

The company makes two bands -- one with just the QR code and another with the QR code plus the wearer's name and type of vaccine they received. That code can be scanned with a smartphone to prove vaccination, the company said.

ImmunaBand President Tashof Bernton told CNN restaurants in Los Angeles and Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, have also bought the bands.

Why not just sew their "I Got Vaccinated" sticker on their apron?

Not that I know specifics of his medical care, but since the former POTUS had recovered from natural infection, it is quite possible that his medical team recommended waiting some time before vaccination. This would be common and recommended by many physicians.

Why did it take until late April for Trump to mildly push getting vaccinated? If the vaccine is his greatest achievement why wait until spring 2021 to suggest getting vaccinated? Why not go public when he got vaccinated in January?
Has anyone asked why he would be vaccinated even though he has active immunity from having the virus last year?

Are SARS viruses something which require acquired immunity even if active immunity is present?

It's a valid question. I have an employee of mine who just got back last week from his bout with Covid. He told me he was advised to wait 90 days before getting vaccinated. There have been some people with some pretty adverse reactions to the vaccine if they already had Covid.

I've read the CDC politically based statements as well as statements from those I consider to be "vaccine salespeople" and others who are more research based.

There is a lot of "it's possible...but rare", "vaccination immunity MAY last longer", etc. language in the recommendation to get vaccinated after active immunity is established. I couldn't find anything that was a solid research study which addressed the question. Perhaps it hasn't been studied enough yet to form a valid recommendation.

I do understand that sometimes infections are not very strong related to active immunity. I had chicken pox twice. The MD told my mom it was because my first case was too mild. Who knows if that was true or just what conventional wisdom was 44 years ago.

This morning, I heard direct accounts of significant post-vaccine effects from two adults that had previously recovered from natural infection. In addition, I learned that there is an ongoing investigation after a very healthy local 40-ish woman recently passed away shortly after vaccination.

The article I linked clearly stated he was following the advice of the WH medical staff. Kiddiedoc has provided some insight into what that guidance could be

Wrong. Biden pushed the vaccine, the only thing he said that gets y'all in a fussy is that we should trust the scientist's and doctor's judgement on whether it was safe and effective instead of Trump's.
And I am guessing BC biden didnt stop the vaccines that they were safe.....

This is how absolutely petty partisan you guys are.

Trump says one thing.
Scientists say the exact same thing.
Democrats say not to listen to Trump, even though he is right and agrees with the scientists.
