Interesting, why is it so difficult to sleep at that altitude? 25 miles in one day would kill me.
Your respiration gets very shallow while you sleep. Blood oxygen level drops. Brain sez "oh crap, don't die" and wakes you up. You take a few deep breaths and go back to sleep-ish. Rinse, repeat 10 minutes later. It's really disconcerting.
Doesn't happen after a couple of days of acclimating.
