Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

From the Mayor of Somerville….
No one wanted to get kids back to school more than me … It’s people needing to feel safe,” he said. “We want to make sure that we’re eliminating any risk of transmission from person to person in schools and carrying that risk over to the community.”

Feelings and zero risk. Crazy.

I like the part preceding this about the yard signs about how this house believes in real science

Mine too. Three weeks from diagnosis and she's gone. Waited months through pain until it was too much despite my wife and I pressing. Still kind of bitter about it. Healthcare showed their ass during this.
Very sorry to hear this, and I apologize on behalf of the medical community for failing her. Only a few of us have been willing to fight and endure the backlash. Most docs are already frustrated with EHR BS, cumbersome government requirements, and dealing with insurance companies. It's much easier to just be quiet, comply with nonsense restrictions, provide ****** "virtual" care, punt tough stuff to an ER, etc.

Seriously though, condolences to your family.

Actually examining patients is terribly overrated. With Google and Tic Toc, you can pretty much figure everything out for yourself, anyway. I can't think of a single time that a patient came in thinking one thing and it ended up being something totally different, or even something far more serious and potentially life-threatening. Honestly, we should also just make all prescription meds available OTC like they are in Mexico.
Google doctors.... oh mylanta. For the longest time I listened patiently to families as they were going in the totally wrong direction. I’ve been broken from that.
Love the sarcasm, btw.

You realize she's talking about the French Dr. that did a 1000 patient HCQ study, right?? He actually attached data to his findings unlike Wapo, NYT, CNN, MSNBC etc.

Dr. Didier Raoult is a French physician and microbiologist. He holds M.D. and Ph.D. degrees and specializes in infectious diseases.

It is amazing how quickly a persons reputation can be trashed in this coronabros society we have.

He Was a Science Star. Then He Promoted a Questionable Cure for Covid-19.

Double Masking ‘Makes Common Sense,’ Fauci Says

“If you have a physical covering with one layer, you put another layer on, it just makes common sense that it likely would be more effective,” said Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

Let's parse that statement: 1) he cites no studies, no data, no evidence that double masking is more effective; instead he relies on "common sense". 2) he says it's "likely" it would be more effective.

He's suggesting policy based on what his common sense tells him is likely to be more effective.

The question here is why does Dr. Fauci hate science...

To me this makes more common sense for those people who are still listening to that pandering boob...

in this thread it's liberals that continually ignore science.

It’s craziness. I’m just about the biggest pro-science person there is. It’s ridiculous to me the left leaning crowd in here have abandoned it for Twitter and TikTok. I suspect the science isnt on their side, deep down they know it, but there is still an agenda to push or dogma to hold on to.

It’s also “common sense” that 3,4,5 and so on masks are even more effective. It’s such an incredibly lazy and irrational argument for using multiple masks.

In all sincerity, that's tough to read. Condolences for your loss.
Sorry man.

Mine just had major surgery. Perhaps could have been avoided if caught earlier. Kept putting off appointment because of pressure from people to not go out..
Thanks yall. She being my wife's grandmother, not my wife. But her grandfather was shoved into a memory home, no visitors, died shortly after. They were married for 65 years.

I don't think it's doctors or nurses doing it, ya know the people who actually practice medicine, but it's big wigs talking to lawyers about liability and the policy makers to blame.

Why wear one seatbelt when two would be even better?

Most were never about science but were all about the agenda.

I feel bad for my wife and her parents. It's like her brother has a mental condition now. His wife is definitely driving the bus on the crazy part but he's basically Stockholm syndromed into agreeing with her. He's much smarter than her too which is wild. His job deals daily with quantifying risk and expected values yet they're living like the entire world is radioactive. Our nephew has one child he's allowed to play with (because the parents share "similiar values") and they make the kids wear ****ing masks in the yard together. It's sad. I just don't understand how people who were all about "the science" can now dismiss the same science they worshipped six months ago. I feel like making any concessions to them is no different than letting your alcoholic brother have some beers at the family get together as long as he does it in the garage or something. I'm not enabling the behavior, they need to accept reality.
The masks sadly have become some adult version of a whoopie blanket.

That's what you consider going out on a limb? wow - I didn't view it that way in the least.
Sounds like someone has them a Ripen crush.
I've used him as an example many times in my career. Both positive and negative.
Oh, I'm sorry, by defending the career of someone that you have no clue about yet are disparaging as being criminally negligent means I have a crush on them? You OBVIOUSLY have been in the presence of too much estrogen. You need to get away from the liberal women some Looth. Would do you good.

Don't you think that vaccines are pretty much a proven concept by now? I don't care if you get one or not, but for the most part I don't recall anyone having a bad reaction to one.
Several manufacturers have been working on a Covid type vaccine since SARS. The general vaccine and delivery didn't change much from what I understand just the targeting part(?). I had always thought that the major manufacturers had a vaccine nearly ready to go because they had been working for several years on it.

Hey, watch your your mouth. I have two grand kids that are lefties.
I have at least one. Oh the advantages they have in sports!!! Natural lefties in Lax can learn to go right much easier than a rightie can learn to go left. Hockey there is an advantage and also in baseball in some positions like first, third and pitch.

Oh looth, classical you. Start some **** and then when it gets refuted you deny being concerned. Typical, soooooo typical.
How in the world did I start ****? I posted a take my wife has that was related to the discussion. I don't care who agrees or disagrees with her take. There were about 5 nut jobs that tried to turn it into some type of debate about Ripken. My flaw was in responding to any of them. They had completely missed the point, and that is what is soooooooooo typical.

It was a debate between a couple of people about Ripken playing when injured and volinbham showing he had a good game when he played injured on the game referenced.

Then you felt like posting a block quote stating he was overrated as a player. You deserved all the jokes cast at you.
