Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

I wonder if schools no longer give out "perfect attendance" certificates and if they do, how does Mrs. Luther feel about them?
Perfect attendance awards were invented by conservatives to encourage sick children to attend school so they would get other children sick and they would have to stay home and not learn and that way all the kids stayed stupid.

While I was not a fan of Jimmy Carter as POTUS I do admire his service over the years. Even that picture shows a humble home that looks like anyone's elderly relatives might live in.

He's probably the greatest ex-President ever.

Thanks for that link. Just confirmed much of what we are seeing every day. I do know that our local Children's hospital has seen a big jump in suicide attempts/ideation, so the small difference in this report is a bit surprising.

One criticism of the article:

The research, they say, points to the need for a renewed commitment to better mental health care—especially access to telehealth

My experience with behavioral "telehealth" has been abysmal. Most of my parents that tried it with their kids quit after a few sessions, as it's nearly impossible to build trust and rapport through the computer/phone screen. We have now been calling and requesting area providers to see kids in person. Honestly, I think there is a lot of laziness involved, here.

what I've learned today - Cal Ripken is not to be admired as he is a glaring example of toxic masculinity
He was a great player who did many admirable things. Playing when the team would have been better off with him on the bench is just not one of those things.

Can't speak for all schools, but many do not. I'm sure none will this year.
Constant e-mails went out in our county instructing parents to not send in their kids when they had any symptoms.

It's actually quite amazing how much more able you are to make it through work when you work for yourself.

Prior to my 10 day herd immunity project in January, I hadn't missed a day of work in probably 7-8 years.

Something sure looks weird about that pic. I know Jimmy and Rosalynn are in their 90s, but they look flat out elf-like in comparison to the Bidens.

The Biden's are kneeling in front of the Carter's. That's why they are bigger. The angle of the shot makes it look like they are side by side though.

I had some experience with telehealth when the pandemic first hit. I found it miserable. Not just because of the obvious….not being able to truly examine someone. But you’re right that it was very difficult to establish rapport. And my line of work doesn’t really need as much of that compared to mental/behavioral health. And I also agree with the laziness aspect.

I did a total of three visits (by parental requests). I then announced my retirement from Telemedicine.
