Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

I'm saying your wife is speaking about an issue she has no clue about. As I said in another post I'm sure the Oriels team doctors cleared Cal to play anytime he didn't feel well so he was not endangering his teammates. He manned up and played ball, something she should respect.
lol. I also said injuries. There is no way in hell that he was not sick or injured to the point where the backup would have been better. It's a classic example of the absurd extremes of "manning up". I've coached enough to know that often times it's up to the coach/trainer/doctor to "man up" and bench a starter for the good of the team.

You think the team would have taken a chance on losing to keep him out there if they were in contention? If they were out of the race, sure I can see them keeping out there for the publicity which was good for the organization so it's not just your sweet Mrs that doesn't know what they are talking about.

My wife has always made fun of the hoopla over Cal Ripken's consecutive games played.
She views it as the most selfish accomplishment in all of sports.
Her view is that there is no way that there were not days when he was a little sick or injured to the point where the backup would have been much better for the team.
She views going to work sick the same way. If you do not have a replacement that can step in during your absence, someone is not running the organization very effectively.

Unless you're just a badass ************.

depends on the sickness, my friend.
Also depends on severity. If somebody is bringing up bloody phlegm balls continually and can’t breathe they should probably be home for their own good too. If they’ve got a runny nose that can be managed by DayQuil go nuts. Either way it’s their business. And the same basic virus.

In the current environment most companies see the runny nose and are convinced you have leprosy

It's obvious who doesn't know what they are talking about, and it's the usual suspects.

Back to topic, and serious question:

For those who do not believe that we are nearing herd immunity in most areas of the country through a combination of natural infection, vaccination, and the mysterious "background protection", how would you explain the numbers since early Jan and the graphs I posted a couple pages back?

New administration having the media in its back pocket, therefore they can count the numbers correctly. No more Johnny offed himself, but he had covid-19 and that is what killed him.

What an incredibly specific and uninteresting thing to have a hot take on. I can see how you two go together.

I'm trying to lead by example.

depends on what you mean by proven.

What is an emergency use authorization (EUA)?
In an emergency, like a pandemic, it may not be possible to have all the evidence that the FDA would usually have before approving a drug, device, or a test.
When there is a declared emergency, the FDA can make a judgment that it's worth releasing something for use even without all the evidence that would fully establish its effectiveness and safety. If there’s evidence that strongly suggests that patients have benefited from a treatment or test, the agency can issue an EUA to make it available.

What Is Emergency Use Authorization?

The FDA is making a trade-off on need for treatment vs need for full testing of safety and efficacy.

I wouldn't blame a parent for waiting a while for more evidence to come in or full FDA approval before proceeding.
This, with the blanket immunity that big pharma got with this are my "concerns". They could have used mercury in their vaccines and there would be nothing the public could do about it. Now that assumes mercury would get the EUA, but the overall point remains.

I love how big business is a problem, until the government throws them blatant blanket protection, then we cant question it and we have to assume they now, finally, have only our best interests at heart.

I dont actually think there is anything close to directly harmful in the vaccines, it just bothers me that they are protected from that option.

They took a process that is normally in the 10 year range and did it in a few months. I wouldn't expect any business would compromise the typical testing and safety protocols without some kind of immunity.
