You're giving me hope....quit it.Maurer is just the most physically capable of all of them. Physically he doesn’t really have a weakness. Quicker release, he’s mobile, he can get to platform relatively easy, he’s not a power thrower like a Justin Herbert or something but he has a live arm quick arm that can really zip through tight windows and on balls to the boundary, he has quick eyes too which sometimes gets him in trouble Bc
He has a Bad tendency to perceive pressure that’s not really there and rush through his reads. But since this offense is one-two reads tops... it fits him perfect.
Pruitt is the worst head coach we’ve had here and it’s not close. Dooley was better and butch was 10x better
Dooley couldn’t muster a winning record here and Butch went 0-8 in the SEC in freaking Year 5, the worst season the Vols have ever had, but sure.
Y’all mofos got some selective memories.
Yep. Barnes is as stubborn as they come sometimes.
If you simply board up the doghouse and never revisit the tenant? I don’t see the motivation angle.I would think it has to do with motivation and responsibility. Barnes wants players who want coaching and want to be the best they can be. It appears he gives you a chance and if you can't help yourself, then he can't help you.
Dumbest s*** I've ever seen not playing DJ Burns and Walker during their times here. Everyone knows Barnes has his reasons but when you are playing for championships you throw that crap out the window and play to win the game. We were dealing with a Fulkerson injury and genius decides to play Pember, Gaines, Anosike, and Plavsic.
I'd take Pruitt over Dooley and it's not even all that close. Dooley had 5 conference wins in 3 seasons. Pruitt had 10.
I'd take Jones over Pruitt but saying he's 10x better is kind of ridiculous. Pruitt had a slightly better conference win %. Jones never laid an egg like Georgia State though and he made consistent progress his first 3 years while Pruitt took a huge step back so Jones gets a slight edge.
We've had terrible head coaches for a while. Pruitt wasn't unique or way worse than the others. They just all stunk. Before Heupel, Jones was the only one with even a decent track record as a head coach. I thought Fulmer was pretty bad by the time he got fired but if the administration wasn't serious about hiring a proven coach they never should have fired him.
Burns was redshirting all along. He reclassified and was young when he came to UT.
Just because someone is on the bench doesn't mean he is any better. Sure, maybe Walker could have gotten a few minutes here and there. But, he was hurt and out of shape early in the year. Coaches play the players that they trust, and Walker was never trusted.

Absent all available information I can see your point. Mine is that were his DOGHOUSES so closed shut earlier in his career? Or has his approach hardened with age along with his arteries. I don’t know either way, but I question his methodology on this one.Obviously can't speak in specifics. But whose to say that Barnes didn't give him chances multiple times? If his players care about improvement and work hard, then Barnes cares. Barnes won't spend the time with players who don't want it for themselves. This was all apparent with Grant and Admiral. They put in the effort and so did the coaches.

No thanks. Pember didn't play much to matter for anything. Big whopping 29 minutes logged all year.
Look me eye to eye and tell me Walker is not better than DREW PEMBER.
Gross
Edit: And your first sentence is just factually incorrect, to my knowledge. That's breaking news if true that a bball player reclassified just to not play and then transfer out.
The one thing I don't understand is the incident at the strip club. The way I heard it was one of our players had Neids credit card and after a pretty hard night of partying, got drunk and left the card at the club. Someone at the club, allegedly, returned it to the UT athletic department to ensure their payment and then the sh^t hit the fan. Problem with that story is that the player, in question, is still a prominent member of the team and is expecting to play a lot this year.Neids stuff started coming out before or right at the start of the season so this makes sense.
Butch crashed and burned, but in my lifetime, the only time we have been nationally relevant was under Butch. Without 2015 and 2016, current recruits would have never seen us be relevant. By all accounts, he wasn't fit for the job and he failed spectacularly at the end, but without 2015-2016, recruits nor myself would have never seen Tennessee win a nationally meaningful game. I dislike the guy, but he was much better than Dooley and Pruitt imo.
I don't think Barnes liked his work ethic and once you get in his dog house, it's pretty much over for you. Old school coaching. The year was free for everyone and if Barnes wanted to get him some experience, he had plenty of time to do it. I doubt Barnes is gonna lose any sleep over this departure.Would like to know what really happened on this one.
