I think they'll be able to work something out. He'll have to be overpaid because of by how much he outperformed his current contract. The key will be is he willing to take a little bit of a discount (still overpaid, but a discount to what others could offer) to stay in ATL, because ATL is probably not going to be his best offer. Lot of people think the Angels could make a run at him.

I’d don’t mind overpaying Fred, with his low maintenance compact swing, he’ll be hitting well into his late 30’s. And his defense won’t fall off that much. Plus all his intangibles.
