It’s a no brainer for him considering he’s a projected 1st round pick. He still needs to continue to develop, but he can do that while getting paid in the NBA and have it be his main focus without school.

6-6 and I'm stoked. I'd love 8-4, but just can't see it. 8-4 would match our best regular season record since 2006. I'm just not sure I can envision that coming off a 3-7 season, a fired coach, a bunch of key players transferring out, and a new coach and new scheme. But that's doesn't mean I'm miserable or down on this staff by any means - I just think they've been dealt a tough hand and need time!

My rationale is basically this:

1. We lost our best players off of a terrible team.
2. We have no idea how these young guys will pan out.
3. Recruiting is literally dead in the water and who knows how long it takes to resolve that due to the NCAA.

#3 is my biggest concern because even when we start getting the talent, there is still a lag time as most of them will need to develop

Not disputing that...my comment is in reference to I think what Jay bilas or dicky V said during a broadcast..I forgot what game it was but whoever it was stated that the type of players Barnes recruits aren’t wired to think the same way most top recruits do when they come into college compared to a recruit like Kentucky,Duke or North Carolina..like they don’t come in thinking 1 and done which is true to an extent because JJJ is still here.

Swain could be a tool. I'm not saying he is but he could be. Hooker entered the transfer portal in Feb 2019 but after a while returned to VT. In Feb 2020 Fuente implemented a new policy. If you enter the transfer portal we're not taking you back. In Dec 2020 Hooker went back into the portal knowing he couldn't return to VT. I think Hooker can play but if you don't keep him happy he may hit the transfer portal. We're short on QBs especially with Salter as minimum falling behind. Last year Bailey missed out on spring ball and I think he missed a chunk of fall camp due to contact tracing. Once he got a chance I think he did really well for a true freshman. jmo.

I remember hearing some years ago that the team knows who the starting QB is long before it's announced to the public. I don't know who we will have starting this year but on Saturday Alex Golesh said the team rallies around Bailey. I didn't miss that. It may not mean what it could mean but it's not a bad sign. jmo.

Last year at Georgia all the offseason hype was on Jamie Newman. In this very thread I was mocking all of that. It's the business of football. On Sept 2nd, Jamie opted out of the 2020 season due to "Covid". I never thought he was going to play anyway. I just thought Kirby was running dangerously low on bodies in the QB room. jmo.

I mean I agree. However, who is to say he isn’t? Also, who is to say he even knew what was going to go down that night?

Everyone is assuming. What if he was just out with the guys and one of them was like hey I need to meet my guy real quick and then this happened?

It’s hard to put everything on a person when you don’t actually know all the details. Just saying.
