Disagree wholeheartedly. He doesn’t get the stats he got in college, sure, but he opens things up for our edge rushers and he’s still great against the run
Meh. I expected him to have more of an Aaron Donald type of impact on a game, and he hasn't.

Sort of random, but I’ve been thinking about the potential of Heupel and his staff here.

I think what I’m excited about most is that we have a coach who will bring in scheme and X’s and O’s. For as long as I have been watching UT, we’ve been archaic on offense and have relied sheerly on talent to win rather than having a superior scheme. Well this isn’t 2001, obviously, and we aren’t getting the guys we used to. It’s no wonder we have been bad on offense for awhile. Even if we were getting the 5 stars, I think the knowledge of the game has increased so much in the last half a decade it would be for nought without using the analytics to maximize the talent. While bringing in a guy with a “system” may be against everything the blue hairs want and believe in, I think it’s the only way out of this mess. His type of system on offense makes the difference between 3 stars and 4 stars a lot smaller, IMO, so I’m not worried about offensive recruiting too much. It also gives your program a built in identity year after year without having to “find one” as the coaches say. If the defense can just be decent I think he will have a successful tenure.

I believe Heupel is a safe bet to get us back to 8-4 type seasons. We need to be humble and just focus on getting there first. Once we get there we can figure out if we have a guy that can get to real championship chasing. It is going to be a process, but I don’t think it will be a boring one which makes it easier to be patient and stay in the moment rather than dreaming your life away hoping in 2-3 years you’ll be better (Been doing that for going on 15 years now). I believe getting to a bowl this year is absolutely attainable and should be the goal for year one. Anything more is gravy, but if we can put up points like ole miss did in year one we might be able to steal a game or two. It’s not my expectation, but if he could get us to 7-5 or 8-4 in year 1 that would fast track this program back to where it wants to be.

I am not going to say she is an elite coach, but you can't judge other records like that without knowing the circumstances. She won a regular season title and the next year won a tournament title at Western Carolina. Harper went to the NCAAT there 2 out of 5 years, and it appears those are the only two trips in the school's history. They haven't had a winning season since, which was 2009. They have only had 3 seasons with at least 10+ wins.

Missouri State has more history but still hadn't been to at least the Sweet 16 in 12 years before she got there. I don't know much about NC State except that she followed a legend at that school.

I can't say that I watch the Lady Vols alot, but from what I have seen, they are better than Holly's teams. It's just my opinion. Now, how good can she be? I don't know.
Candace Parker.. Vol Legend with the takedown. Have not watched the TNT garbage in a while but she’ll be a breath of fresh air to that room. Mini UT shout out at the end as well :D

So let’s build a team to operate a scheme that has a ceiling of 4 or 5 conference wins per year, knowing that to take the next step we’ll have to bring in someone else to tear it all down to the foundation and rebuild for a higher ceiling. No thanks. The roster we have now is far better than what Pruitt inherited in 2018 particularly in the trenches, although it will start going backwards if CJH doesn’t make good use of it and start recruiting at an acceptable level. There is no excuse for anyone not named Pruitt to not to win 7 regular season games this year with our schedule and current roster.

Can't speak for anyone else, but I'm excited. I'll be attending all of the games, and I was not even going to watch if Beldar was still roaming the sidelines.

As far as fan buy in, he just needs to follow the Ole Miss recipe. Beat the teams you should beat, and then when we play Florida, lose 35-56 instead of 21-0. Scoring points will mask a bad team. At least for the first year.
I hope our defense if better than the one Kiffin cooked up as part of the Ole Miss recipe.

I think we should start a Football Talk IV to change the mojo again. Since a new era is starting today and all

That changed our mojo from bad to awful. Let’s stay the course, right this ship, keep up the intensity, change the culture...right here right now.

Every OptiVOL, partner up with a negaVOL (or as they call themselves “Realists”), and let’s turn this thing around! Yes, yes, I know each OptiVOL may need to grab 5-10 NegaVOLs since they outnumber us, but who doesn’t like a little challenge ( give you a hint the Realists/NegaVOLs) 🤠
