Barnes needs to go land Kessler from UNC.

Seems like Gonzaga is the favorite in that one.

Honestly if they can get BHH to reclassify and be a Vol I'd be pretty damn happy, 5 star 6'9" the best big Barnes will have recruited. My worry now though is with English leaving are we losing some of this fire in recruiting? 2 years here and landed 3 5 stars in those classes.

Hopefully Barnes identifies and lands another good young up and comer that has recruiting chops to bring in.

Rob Lews mentioned on VQ that English was the most expendable on the roster. Said Oliver is the more important recruiter. And Schwartz is the X's and O's guy. Said even though English gets the credit for KC, Oliver helped and what sealed it was the parents liked Barnes.

Pretty Holly back in business.
I am by no means a close follower of the Lady Vols or WBB in general, but why did people think she'd be great to begin with?

She already had a shot at a P5 program (NC State) and she wasn't very good there, and was fired. She fielded what I suppose were scrappy, competitive teams at mid majors (Western Carolina and Missouri St), but it isn't like those teams were powerhouses in their conference that consistently made NCAATs. She made 4 tournaments in 11 years and advanced beyond the first round once at the mid majors. That by no means is bad (and she won about 70% of her conference games at those places), but it isn't like she came back to Tennessee with some incredible head coaching resume.

Our post play has regressed since Lanier left. We need someone to work with the inside guys.

I am not going to say she is an elite coach, but you can't judge other records like that without knowing the circumstances. She won a regular season title and the next year won a tournament title at Western Carolina. Harper went to the NCAAT there 2 out of 5 years, and it appears those are the only two trips in the school's history. They haven't had a winning season since, which was 2009. They have only had 3 seasons with at least 10+ wins.

Missouri State has more history but still hadn't been to at least the Sweet 16 in 12 years before she got there. I don't know much about NC State except that she followed a legend at that school.

I can't say that I watch the Lady Vols alot, but from what I have seen, they are better than Holly's teams. It's just my opinion. Now, how good can she be? I don't know.

You do realize he was just doing his job right? Just like when Pruitt was our coach....it's a business

Pump your school, but sucker punches to a specific school in March is full-on sour grapes and bitterness. That was lame on JG. That tweet was something you mutter under your breath. I’m not bothered but it’s petty and has nothing to do with recruiting a certain player.

Honestly, I don't think Jay was that great of a RB's coach.

I mean he's bounced around quite a bit at destination jobs too. Granted I understand his leaving here wasn't necessarily his choice. I would say we've had better RB coaches and I really like Mack so honestly not really got ill feelings towards Jay, but not sure I'd want him back at least as a RB coach.

I watch every game of UT women's basketball. Always have. Fans who compare Harper to Warlick are either very casual fans that don't look at anything other than the score or they just don't understand how to analyze what they are watching. Lady vols are much improved in HOW they play the game. They have roster limitations that were left for Harper to pick up. Limitations based on positions and skills. They had lots of size and length but pitiful guard depth. Playmakers and shooters didn't exist. So Harper has coached them up much better. The question will be how does she put together a roster that she recruits. The incoming class at least addressed the issue of getting some shooters.

Imagine thinking you’re more of a Vol than Jay ****ing Graham holy shite some posters and tweeters have a mental disorder
He didn’t need to tweet what we all know. Coaches are in the spotlight and should be able to shed criticism, particularly from Twitter. That said people make mistakes. Not sure it’s a contest of who is the biggest Vol. That said, I don’t think I would coach at Bama if in his position but if he has interest in becoming a head coach then it’s certainly a fast track. Will be interested to see what comes out of this. Maybe already posted, I’m a bit behind...

Honestly screw Jay Graham, he lost his vfl card after he posted thisView attachment 358842
I still love Jay Graham, and think pulling his card is overreacting; BUT, I understand what you're saying. He can shove this sh!t up his ass; and, I gave him the 🖕 the day he tweeted this garbage.

Jury's still out on Harper. You give her a couple more recruiting classes to build it, but I would want to see her step it up with the system and on game day. That may mean new assistants and her changing her MO.

You watch the teams that beat the LV's and they all have more pure shooters and play much more disciplined with less turnovers. The LV's have a handful of great athletes, just not complete players. Their effort is usually only for one half of each game - same as under Holly. They have not valued the basketball since Pat. I see the old style of transition basketball with tired sets of yesteryear to go with dribble drive by slashers who cannot finish much of the time. The teams who are improving and winning are running the floor shooting threes and making layups - just like in the men's game. They work inside out some of the time, reversing the ball to the open 3 shooter when they are not attacking the basket down low. Very little in the way of intermediate. It was obvious Michigan could not handle Key, yet, the O did not do anything to open the lane for her to operate. Instead Harper had the ball rotating outside with nobody bothering to even cover Kushkituah when she got it at the key. They knew she would do nothing with it so they doubled Key. Poor design and they played it that way the whole game - so no adjustments. Burrell and Davis would try to create, but it was packed inside and they had nobody on the team who could hit an outside J/3. They then got frustrated and missed a bunch of the 8-12 footers.

What I can't get over is how stupid and short sighted his tweet was. Really next level dumb, unproductive and just overall unwise. What else did I get wrong about this guy is how I handle this in real life. And I steer clear.

Previous poster mentioned how he bashed a history he was a part of with 2 diff coaching staffs. He punked himself and didn't even realize. Now he's really punked himself with both schools, career, etc.
