That's not how construction works.

You signed a contract for 20k. You then pay 2k to put a pause on it. You are still on the hook for 20k. Plus the 2k that you pay out indefinitely.

And then you will pay another 2k to start it back up, plus damages, and probably an escalation fee for increased cost. Some scope change because of fixes to the incomplete work from before. A redesign because of wanted improvements over the 4 years.

So in the end you will pay out at least 40 or 50k for a 20k contract. The wall builders love this. Anyone looking to make money for not working needs to be a private contractor for the Fed. It's great.

Criminal organizations trafficking women, children, families and single adults over the U.S.-Mexico border earned as much as $14 million a day in February, according to border patrol sources.

The human smuggling windfall comes as U.S. taxpayer costs for the border crisis continue to spike, topping $5 million a day, based on 2019 figures provided by Health and Human Services that put daily "influx" shelter costs at $800 per migrant. Additionally, last week the Biden administration awarded a $86 million contract for hotel rooms to hold 1,200 migrant families as the crisis exceeds ICE holding capacity.

Additional costs will include overtime and hotel costs for the hundreds of agents reassigned to Texas from other areas. For context, in 2019 Congress appropriated an extra $4.6 billion to handle a similar migrant surge. In 2014, Congress gave President Obama an extra $2.7 billion to deal with his border crisis.

An appeals court this year found the U.S. is not legally obligated to accept unaccompanied minors. The Trump administration sent most Central American minors, the majority of whom are ages 15 to 17, back to their home countries to join family there.

The pause on construction of the border wall costs taxpayers about six million dollars per day while construction sites sit idle, Breitbart Texas learned from a senior Department of Homeland Security official. On Sunday, March 21, the 60-day pause in construction of the border wall is scheduled to end.

According to the source, the expenditures are required for materials orders placed before the pause and expenses for the cost of equipment sitting idle.
