The Official CoronaZoneVirus Thread

Just my 2 cents. Obviously no one is immune, much like the flu. But there are some that get the flu every year and those that rarely get it. I think it's mostly the same, if you are prone to get the flu or other viruses (i.e. get something every year) you will or have probably gotten Corona. Otherwise you are likely to miss this just as you miss the flu every year. I don't get flu shots and can't remember the last time I had the flu. Probably once in the last ten years
With my age and medical situation I can’t afford to not get flu shots.

Also, we have siblings at our school with one quarantined and one not quarantined and living in a small house or trailer and some sharing a bedroom.
There's just a lot of this I still don't understand, but in the world today, that's not unusual. HA
Edit: Dad's sister is unable to care for herself these days, so she's moved into the same house with her daughter and her son-in-law, who put in an elevator for her and widened the doors for wheelchair access. Both of them tested positive last week. Dad's sister is 92, and we're all worried about that situation. We have over 50 kids in quarantine at school right now.
Same for my kids. They've both been quarantined several times, but only once at the same time. My youngest got quarantined a couple of weeks ago because a kid on the bus, my middle daughter rides the same bus, but she wasn't.

I would never advise anybody on shot or no shot. That is between them and whoever they rely on for medical treatment. Me personally in a few years may have to change my stance and start getting the shots as well.
I've gotten flu shot every year cause work pays for it. No reason not to

Both my parents were career medical professionals, they were always adamant not to get vaccinations. Right/wrong or otherwise. Probably an old school mentality on their part. That's one reason I never get it,, the other is I rarely get sick. However, mom got the covid vaccine this year and did so at the first opportunity

Yeah the Covid scares the hell out of some people but not the flu. Lots of people die from the flu too. I don’t get it.

I think it's weird that I personally have known 4 people that have died from Covid in the past year. I have personally known no one that has died from the flu my whole life.

I bought a 2 pak of ribeyes last week just to try in the air fryer, but I ain't ready for 800 calories yet. I gotta lose a few more pounds before I commit to that.

But I do look forward to it. I'm gonna try blackening it, that way if I happen to overcook it I'll still be able to enjoy it.

There have been a buncha flu epidemics that have killed hundreds of thousands of people. Google it.

I know, but that wasn't my point.

How many people have you known, I mean like have talked to on a regular basis or been close to that has died from the flu?

I haven't known any.
I haven’t known any people personally that died of Covid or the flu, doesn’t change the facts that both have killed a lot of people. Was really talking about people that have always been against getting vaccinated for the flu but got the Covid shot like tnuhc’s mom.

I think that for many people, Covid has a significantly higher pucker factor than flu.

And rightfully so. IMO JMO IMHO FWIW MPH TWSS WGWTFA

Sure, except when it doesn’t.

I don’t minimize the numbers of those who barely notice it, and who just feel crappy for a while and then bounce back.

I also don’t minimize the numbers of those who live on the edge of life and death, and the experiences of the “long-haulers”, and the loss of those who died too soon, including those who were old and (therefore apparently) oh-well-they-were-due-anyway.

This ^^^ bit is significantly different from other respiratory diseases like flu. When flu goes bad, and it does, you just don’t see those high of numbers, and those levels of complications.

Edit to add: and that’s why I mentioned the “significantly higher pucker factor.” It’s different.

I won’t debate between h and Exie, I see where both are coming from, all I know, it scared the hell of me. Scared someone that doesn’t scare that easily. I saw 2 friends and 6 residents die from it. Sure, I know the flu kills, but the flu deaths have gotten to be like reporting on the last page of our local newspaper.

You could just eat one of them and then freeze the other.
