I donā€™t think anyoneā€™s arguing this wasnā€™t a disappointing season, just that Barnes shouldnā€™t be fired

And for everyone saying bring back Bruce. Barnes has a better record at UT than Bruce at auburn, and a much better SEC record. Went to the NCAAT twice in six seasons compared to Barnes going 3 times in 5 seasons. Bruce got lucky refs suck or he woulda been bounced in the first round of his FF run too

Oh and Bruceā€™s best team at Auburn got him beat by a bad Bama team in the SECT and then bounced in the round of 32

Thatā€™s not quite an apples to apples comparison. A few weeks ago, a tweet was posted about Barnesā€™ February and March record at UT. So, I did this research and posted in the b-ball forum.

After first 2 years
Nov.-Feb.: Barnes (77.6%) v. Pearl (78.5%)
Feb.-March: Barnes (62.5%) v. Pearl (62.2%)

Just February (all years)
Barnes (52.2%) v. Pearl (45.8%)

Just March (all years)
Barnes (58.3%) v. Pearl (70%)* Pearl went 11-1 in March when they went to the FF. If you take it out, Pearl is 38.8% in March.

It is uncanny how close some of these numbers are.

Edit: This did not include this year, so however it ends from here, Barnes' numbers will get better considering that Pearl is 11-12.

We were preseason #13 ish. Thatā€™s part of the problem with perception.

This was a terrible years in general for teams with freshman talent. The most successful teams this year have been junior and senior led teams that already know how to play together. Expect a lot of smaller schools to have continued success this tourney with that formula.

Not a single upset so far today. I think we'll get two in the later games. Possibility of three.
