President Joe Biden - Kamala Harris Administration

You a friend of OSHA?
Way too many years working for a mega corp with safety nazis and regulations out the wazoo. Actually the only time we had a visit from Osha was when we had a fatality which seemed to happen way too many times in my career, I think it was around 12 or so in 35 years. That's bad when you can't remember the exact number.

I worked a total of 25 years for two gigantic chemical companies... actually three if you count my Co-op which was 6 quarters during my UT days.

So... "been there and done that" too.

So how did you make the transition from chemical engineer to warehouse entrepreneur?

I was able to take "early retirement" when I turned 55. At that point I had no guarantee that my concept for self-employment would even pan out but I was ready for a change. I could see a need for a small, niche distributor of catalysts who could also do reactor design, in particular for gas purification (at which I had achieved some renown already, within a German-centric global catalysts group), as a way to help sell catalyst. Initially I was using third party warehousing but when my warehouse people shipped the wrong product to Korea I realized I might have to start running my own warehouse. And that's how we got here.

So the chips fell into place but it didn't hurt that you were already smart as hell in your field? I'm glad it worked out for you. I like to hear success stories about private businesses.

A poultry plant in Gainesville, GA had a N2 leak a few weeks ago. Killled 5 maintenance guys. They must of known a problem and management may of not wanted to stop production..just speculation atp.
How does an N2 leak kill 5 people? Were they in confined areas and it displaced the O2? At our place where we bring gases into closed areas we have O2 monitors with alarms.

The thing about being cold is that is an indicator. Otherwise, no sensory perception
I’d guess it phase transitions quickly and rapidly cools the surrounding air. And that liquid going gaseous can displace all of the atmosphere quickly and cause a loss of consciousness

Wouldnt that have to be a massive leak? People said it felt like a freezer. What is temp of liquid N2?

Cause of death when N2 is involved is generally asphyxiation. A liquid N2 leak into a large meat locker could quickly cause the O2 level to plummet to levels that will cause blackouts within minutes. Direct exposure to liquid N2 on the skin will of course cause local burns, and I'm reading between the lines here because there wasn't that much detail in the article, but my guess is it basically suffocated them before they knew what was happening because liquid N2 once released becomes a gas almost instantaneously.
