He took us to two straight SECT finals. Lost to an good UK team by 5. Pearl lost one time in the SECT finals. You can argue Barnes has been better in SECT than NCAAT.

Yes he was, because he was sort of local our fan base fell in love with him. Kid was slightly above average nothing more.

It is, but we would have had a better chance doing it starting in January than mid-February.

Worse. Our roster will be in shambles. Dead weight with Gaines, Pember and underachievers in JJJ, Vescovi and Bailey, Chandler will be one and done and BHH may not even come let alone reclass. We have ZERO posts again next year and no elite returners with two freshman coming in. TWO how tf are we not recruiting posts or shooters? Mashack isn’t a shooter just another athlete who’s supposed to defend.

I thought we'd be a 20 win team when the dust settled, don't think I really believed the hype that we'd be a FF team.

So it's a bit disappointing, but didn't expect to lose Fulkerson for the last two games either.


I do think Barnes beats down his players too much. When you got 2/3 star kids with a chip on their shoulder (like Grant, Admiral, Bone, Turner) it doesn't effect them as much. But when you got a team full of "nice guys" like we do I think it impacts how tentative they play.

Barnes.... we will be competitive every year in the SEC and be a good team. But we will never win anything of value with Barnes as coach. Big reason he was fired at Texas. He can’t win in the tournament. It is what it is. But that was an embarrassing loss. We had three five stars on the court. Did they even have a four star?

Bruce has an SECT at AU and a final four and took us to our best tourney finish... Barnes has Texas with KD and Barnes hasn’t even recruited a KD, Aldridge here so we won’t go anywhere but it’s better than where we were.

Bailey and Vescovi have a chance to have really nice scoring years next year if KC is as attacking of a PG as scouting reports say.

Offense should look better.

I hope.

I wished we could have seen the same anger and intensity after his injury from this team all season.

OK - amazingly inept performance by both players and coaches. Glad the season is over. If CRB does not recruit the bigs to handle tournament life we can forget about anything of importance happening. The PG situation is probably resolved for next season, but they need another one that is not one and done to go with bigs. No way KJ and JS are ready for the pros, but I don't blame them if they go for the money.

We need go-to creators who can shoot 3 pointers well with a good PG and a couple of quality bigs. The game has changed. Midrange shooting is nearly pointless. Nate Oats is right. Pearl figured it out long ago.

I think people gonna be real surprised by Chandler. I'm just hoping he doesn't decide to sit out on us if he tweaks an ankle or something.

He's not just a 5 star that needs some work, he's THE #1 PG in the entire country. Dude wouldn't even be coming to UT if the NBA didn't require that 1 year outta HS.

He is a good coach. He’s just not an elite coach.

He’s a consistent winner. That sh*t is hard to do.

He’ll set the next coach up nicely by consistently winning and getting Vols in the National convo during the regular season.

But I agree he’s not winning a NC or anything crazy like that.
