I agree with you for the most part. Not really arguing that side of it. You can get to know someone on a zoom meeting. But not near the same as in person.Are you asking me or telling me?
As far as Zoom and "other technologies" go, they're ok for video calls/conferencing, preliminary job interviews, etc. I consider them only slightly more "powerful" than a traditional phone call for actually getting to know an individual. IMO, it would suck to try to really get to know people without real contact.. Nothing can replace in person interaction for getting a feel for another human being.
However, it was Ts decision to take classes online. If he hasn't made the effort to get to know the new staff/give them a chance, then I think he's made a decision and that's fine. If that's what he wants, good for him.
But if I'm Heupel, and T is not showing any kind of interst in being here next fall, I'm not letting him practice. Maybe they've been in contact a lot and Heupel likes the direction it's going, who knows. But if it were me, I'd have to have a sit down and a commitment from him to be here next season before I let him suit up for spring ball.
