There is no "proper" way to handle a global pandemic. It was states shutting down that crashed the economy and the jobs market. And I have zero doubt that Dem leadership thanks whatever pagan gods they've sold their souls to every day for the pandemic, because without it, they don't take the WH.

And no, I don't support Trump, but I recognize reality.

Shutting down travel wasn't, yet the left attacked him for that one. Sure, he said stupid things, but he also took several good actions, many of which met resistance from the left simply because it was Trump. Both sides are highly dysfunctional, but action-wise, there wasn't a lot more to be done.

The reality is he took a backseat when it came time to lead as potus. He was terrible and it cost him the election. A competent leader, even with similar results, would have won that election in a landslide.

It also represents an attempt to change the subject away from the statistically established fact that under the Biden Administration, the COVID vaccinations are currently being distributed more efficiently, with superior logistical planning services. Plenty of conservatives didn't care for the practice and even said it wasn't one of Trump's finer moments in office.

But when Biden made it a point during the debate, he damn sure should have had a way of reversing said policy instead of expanding it.

So, the ball is in his court to make it right. If he wanted to make it a campaign issue and show his faux horror about it, he better come up with a better solution.

Yes and no.

He did three things he should have done and got put in a damned if he did and damned if he didn't situation.

1. He maintained calm when others were freaking out. Which is what he should have done. The problem?

The left accused him of not taking things seriously and not freaking out. Of course, had he freaked out, they would have accused him of going overboard. He was in an impossible situation and made the better of two bad choices. The public was already going bat-crap (no Covid pun intended) crazy because of the media. A POTUS going overboard would not have been helpful.

2. He let the States decide what measures would be best for them. Again, Governors should know what was best and having a POTUS look over their shoulder wouldn't have helped. The hands off approach was exactly what he needed to do and got blasted by the opposite party and the media for "not doing enough."

3. He gave the "experts" way too much public face time. Again, he needed the advice and counsel, but putting him in front of the camera each and every day and allowing him to put out his guesses was not helpful. Honestly, the Surgeon General would have been a far better choice to give those daily briefings. Fauci really started digging the exposure he got and his celebrity status is annoying. I think (hope) people are starting to see what a fraud he truly is.

So, plenty of things that "hurt" Trump's response to this, most of which was going to be "wrong" regardless of the direction he went in.

You do realize that just because someone "says" they are a parent with a child and there's no proof of such, the government can't just assume they are and "reunite" them, right?

Not arguing whether he did a good job or not, but it didn't matter how well or poorly he did. COVID and the riots were a perfect storm for the Dems, and everything he did after those 2 things were irrelevant.
