Recruiting Forum Football Talk III

Curiosity- Throwing out approximate number, assuming we try to sign around 25 per year, about how many football scholarship offers do we give out?

It’s difficult to follow all these kids for a given year. Could someone compile a 22’ list of offers with basic bio (state, position, ranking)? Or is that list to large? Lazy guys like me would be interested in a thread that combined these guys.
Butch and Pruitt took the anti-Clemson route and regularly sent out 500 offers a year.

Always thought it was a bit risky, given you only have so many brains and hands there at UT to actively recruit, talk to, and evaluate these kids.

Jmo but hoping Hype goes more of a concentrated route.

Because we kept the tempo up. 2nd half against Bama they forced us to play half court offense and it bottled them up. It seems they both only have a blow by move. If they don't get by on the initial move, Springer will try to spin and that often doesn't work and winds up in a turnover because the floor is poorly spaced.
Springer is a good candidate to learn the euro step. He's not a blazer, but can get near the basket (8-10 ft) really well. If he could utilize the euro, he would be even more dangerous. Thinking of Ginobili, Harden, etc.

Back in '90-91 my high school BB team (White's Creek) was ranked #1 in the country in basketball, and got spanked by Science Hill in the state tourney. We were stunned.

I remember that team even though I’m from northwest Tennessee. I think you guys had Mr Basketball in AAA David Vaughn if I’m remember correctly.

Edit: I see where you responded to LoudOrange..

Agree to disagree, but anything less than a consensus top 25, will be a huge disappointment, imo. That would probably mean a losing record overall and in the SEC. Then the low point drops even further and I will probably be a miserable human being during the whole college football season thru signing day

Are you in the running for Legion of the Miserable president? WTF?

Give the staff a chance to show what they can do...Jesus, Mary, and Joseph...

Did someone kick your dog...ummm, you?

I don’t think you are giving it as much weight as you should. The end result may not be as bad. But the unknown of that is significant. We have committed multiple Level 1 infractions. Pruitt had us a great class last summer. Any doofus can recruit here.... as evidenced by every doofus that’s been here for the past decade.

Did we already have sanctions when Kirby came in and ate our lunch last year? Literally players ATL was guaranteeing them and then when UGA stopped slow playing them and they committed there. We have a perception problem which is a wayyyy bigger factor than sanctions.

Signing a Top 15 class in the SEC don’t mean crap. That puts you about mid to lower tier team in this conference.

Tempo is all about defense. I don’t think we suddenly decided to change our offense. When you turn it over and can’t get stops, you can’t play your offensive game. I was discussing this in the game thread after the first half of Saturday- we got 34 shots in the first half because we had 7 offensive rebounds and Bama had 12 turnovers. I think Bama only had 5 turnovers in the second half.

Hmmm...they both fired coaches this season. Maybe I should go with Auburn then...that work for you? I was just making a comment that people on this site are always saying “TN recruits itself” like it’s the 90’s. “I don’t care about a coach that recruits”

I don’t think the NCAA penalty is a big of a deal as everyone else when it comes to recruiting. I think the fact that TN hasn’t been relevant during current players lifetime is more impactful.
I would agree with you if not for the pending NCAA penalties. We have never seen any coach try to recruit to TN under this scenario. Not Dooley, not Butch, not Pruitt. Big difference frying to recruit anywhere when the NCAA penalties have yet to be announced.

Talked to his mother today, he is most likely out. Needs to pass concussion protocol before he can even practice. She said team is preparing already with him being out.
Man.. That's's so sad for him. He was havinf a horrible year but just as he started looking like his old self that happens. Unreal
