President Joe Biden - Kamala Harris Administration

I am younger than you....
Most of you guys are.
There was plenty good with the "good ole days".
And plenty that wasn't very good at all.
Support of teachers and public education was one of the good things - and so important in it's impact on the others.

That's not the same logic at all.
What I find odd is how so many of you consider the good ole days to have been so much better and think things have just been going to sh!t since.
In the good ole days, parents supported schools and teachers. If a child ever got into trouble, 99% of parents would believe the school and punish the child also.
Now it's all about defending the child, while blaming the school or the teacher or the "man". You guys claim to hate that "victim" mentality yet perpetuate that very thing.

Back in the day schools didn't reach into the home for reasons to punish kids.

I cant imagine my grandparents being ok with my parents being punished at school for something my parents did at home, during their own time, that didnt involve the school.

Back in the day teachers would just call parents and let them whip their ass.

True. And when it came to sports teams, yes coaches did discipline kids for things they did outside of practice/school. They just didn't make a spectacle out of it, they'd make you do extra conditioning. Which in this case I don't think was even needed.

It certainly can be. It's a decision the individual coach has to make.

But you want to castrate all coaches because some little girl got suspended from her JV cheer squad for making a stupid and offensive post. (a post viewed as detrimental to the team by the coach)
I feel dirty bc I actually agree with Luther on this one.

So what makes teachers think that they need unions to work for a municipality? They only work 9 months out of the year and get every known holiday the government can think up? When I started working I got 10 holidays a year and 10 days of vacation. I ended up with 10 holidays a year and 25 days of vacation. So after 25 years I worked 225 days a year, teachers have to work 180 days a year starting from day one. Teachers are overpaid.

What I find odd is that the mom is fighting for the kid. If my daughter did that, the coach suspending her would be the least of her worries.

If they do their job correctly they aren't.

A party, especially if busted by the cops could absolutely effect the team. At the least kids may be hung over or still drunk. Now a days with athletes tuned like a formula 1 engines it's a deficit to the team if the party happens near practice or a game. If there were arrests/cops that could be kids missing time. Again a direct detriment to the team.

We tried to cover for a kid who showed up baked out of his mind. When coach found out he was high he sat that guy and made us do stadiums for three hours. That's nowhere close to what happened here.

Schools have lost the "kids will be kids" mindset.

You want to pay someone teaching your children less than the guy making your cheeseburger at McDonald's because of holidays?

If this had happened in person at school, I would not be arguing for the kid.

This was her own time away from school, not involving the school beyond being the subject matter. Therefore the school should stfu and mind their own business.
