I went to a Catholic school, about as conservative as it comes, punishment for this would be detention. Cant imagine suspending anyone, even from the activity in question for this expression. How many athletes have at some point said "eff this" to whatever training regimen they were in, most. This is ridiculous.

Should a high school football coach be able to take actions like reduced playing time, extra conditioning, etc... with a player for things the player says and does off of the field?

If this isn't a crisis on our southern border w/illegal aliens w/Covid-19 running wild & amok across the border but it's now been deemed "a challenge" ..... why would you ask for volunteers to come help out. Maybe they need "social workers" to go work down there for free. That might help Jackass Joe out a little.
The Trump administration didn't need or even asked everyday Americans to "volunteer to help" fix the problem. The Trump administration did things right ..... Trump didn't create chaos and caused a pandemonium that Jackass Joe & the Ho are doing. Jackass Joe is a weak & frail president who doesn't lead w/sound & thought out policies.

Plus, they are in no way assuming responsibility for disciplining off of school grounds.
They are only protecting their right to take action when a student knowingly harms a team, organization, etc.

I can tell you that if a player on our football team goes off on social media about the team, coaches, or other players (even other teams), there will be action taken. Happens all the time.

I can't believe you guys want to take that right away from coaches.

How is what that girl did harming the team or organization?

To me the team/school acted stupidly by suspending her. They should have just cut or benched her without making a statement. I can't recall if her suspension was from school or not but if it was that is completely out of line.

This isnt just "off the field" this is off of school grounds, not in school time, and not even directed towards the team itself. It was a snap chat to a friend.

It's not the schools job to police these kids when they arent in school.

You never heard your kids make any derogatory comments about their school? Because if they did, you are saying the school should punish them.
