Obviously disagree. You guys can talk about blocking all you want but Gray was a homerun hitter who made guys miss. He will be missed.

Najee Harris is a homerun hitter. Gray is a base hit.

Last season Gray accounted for 115 yards per game combined rushing/receiving and his longest run was 33 yards. Gray will be forgotten early on, especially when we see a RB pick up a blitz and protect the QB for a change. Smalls will probably give them every bit as much of that style as Gray.

I loved what I saw from Smalls last year. If he can pass protect at all it will be an improvement from oley Grey.

I do believe that our RB situation will be fine but I wonder what Harris and grays production would have been if they switched teams last year.

I think if Gray had stayed we would be very excited to see what he could do in this offense. He has shown flashes of the game-breaking ability we all wanted him to. I think since he left, everyone is doing the usual, we didn't want him anyway stuff. His pass-blocking was bad, but so was our OL. I think he would feast in this offense. We still have talent in the RB room and I think Heupel will maximize it.
Itโ€™s not โ€œdidnโ€™t want him anywayโ€. More โ€œthe loss doesnโ€™t match the lamenting.โ€ Some of the same cast of characters referencing him as irreplaceable, were some of his biggest critics when he was on the roster.

Good point. I do wish he had stayed because I think he would have been great, but it is not lamentable. We will be fine there.

Yards after contact - Harris shines. He would not have been as dynamic because the passing game stunk and opponents would have targeted him with their schemes. However, he would have made our O-line appear to better than it actually was.

Gray would be a speciality back at Bama when he saw the field. Saban would never put up with his matador blocking.

Gray is a stranded double.

For sure I think weโ€™ll be fine. I just think Gray is a damn good player (definitely had weaknesses he wasnโ€™t perfect). We still have major weapons that have been underutilized in Hyatt and Velus. And maybe Beckwith shows us something. Plus we have the #1 juco RB. Thatโ€™s about as close as you can get to plug and play besides having a big time transfer.
Gray is a pretty good runner, but his deficiencies drop him way out of the "damn good player" category. A "damn good player" does everything well imo...plus..I didn't even think he was great as a runner..he got fingertip and grass tackled way too many times for me to label him that way.

He was a good playmaker...I will give him that much. I just wonder how much he cost the team by getting his QBs killed doing his matador routine...that is a really big minus.

I think we have guys coming in that will overall be way more valuable...but that is admittedly just a supposition at this point...you never know till they actually get on the field.

Baseball is fun if it's College. It was also fun to play.

I saw someone inked a $330 million per year deal? That's $2,037,037 per game. Dude could literally, play one game this year, flip twinsies and roll off interest for rest of his life.!

That is, without a doubt, the stupidest thing i've ever heard of? Not for him, from Baseball to allow that...To swing a bat. And for that reason, I'm out.
I agree with you, plus the inequitable money system in MLB ruined it for me. It should be like the NFL.

Small runs hard, but he doesn't have half the talent as Gray. If he is our primary back it will be like going from Kamara to John Kelly

I think you may have read that wrong. Baseball has a salary cap and $330 Million a year would kinda blow the cap up :cool:
