TFG's Summer Watch Thread

That's how high his Garmin nose is up in the air.
Lulz, for like $500 this can be yours. Sounds insane, but it’s two years old next month and I can’t fathom it not lasting at least another year. I just don’t know that you need most of the functions. You don’t golf, I don’t think you bike and I think you just walk right? Not running or swimming?

Well I don't want yours. I've already explained that's what I wanted but wouldn't spend that kind of money on something I wasn't sure I'd like. Mine has climbing, yoga, treadmill, bike riding, running, exercise, hiking that I don't need as well as the 2 I do. My point is, It doesn't matter what I need or don't need, If I want it and like it I'll get it.

That was just my way of saying "Nice watch Bill, I like it."

One up me and get the new 945 then! You can download the maps/trails to your phone! Or the fenix that’s even fancier and more real watch like!

I never pay attention to it so I don't know. Now I'm freaking out about it. Thanks a lot. Gosh.
Well, if you’re gonna rock the fancy-schmancy electronica, you’d better be ready to ‘splain their superiority!

— did you go flying today?

It's probably because I went golfing with it today. So lots of up and down the rolling hills of the golf course.

not to mention the same GPS used to measure the altimeter was measuring yardages to the green all day.

So the 19th hole is nearly a mile above the first tee? So confused. Surely it would track net altitude change.

Although I’m starting to envision a golf course with cable cars, which is pretty damn cool.

The Elevation Reading on My Forerunner 935 Is Wrong | Garmin Support

Understand contributing factors that can affect the sensor
There are additional factors that can contribute to an incorrect reading. This includes:

  • Incoming or departing Low or High pressure system
    • This can cause your starting elevation reading to be too high or low. The elevation gain/loss is typically not affected by this.
  • A windy day
    • Wind can affect the sensor causing an inaccurate reading. If you are going to record an activity outdoors when it is windy we suggest wearing the sleeve of a shirt or coat over the watch

It wasn't incredibly windy, but it was windy. All day. So this too. (I was only wearing a short sleeved polo)
