With anything you do in the area of self defense you have to practice, "do reps". Personally, if I were teaching self defense to women, I would teach some basic tactical awareness and just a few moves intended to do SERIOUS harm to a foe. Then I would require them to practice, practice, practice and practice some more until they have that programmed into muscle memory. At that point it becomes instinct and doesn’t have to be thought about..

All that said, if a woman knows she going to be walking alone, at night, there is no excuse for her to not have the forethought to have her hand on some type of weapon or at least something that can be used as a weapon.

It's better to have one and not need it, than to need one and not have it.....

This team has beaten at least 4 top 25 teams and lost close games to WV, A&M, UConn, and UGA, who are all ranked. I can’t say I watch a lot of games, but of the ones I do, they play better than what Holly put out there. Recruiting is the question with Kellie; Better coaching and effort are not.

Commend you for learning self defense and having a ccw permit. DO NOT take this as a discouragement, but tkd is not the best form of self defense. Most techniques taught today are for competition points. I have taken tkd for years, have also been in dozens of fights in my younger days. Tkd is a pretty art form, looks great in movies, but is usually ineffective in real world situations.
Look for an actual self defense class where no rule techniques are taught! (They don’t teach throat punches in tkd😉)
As for your CCW, like mentioned above, practice and get used to it! It will always be your best form of defense!
Muscle memory!!

True story!!

And besides, the landscape of women's basketball is MUCH different than a decade ago. Not even UCONN is dominating like they used to.

Pat and the Lady Vols (along with UCONN) forced all women's teams to up their game and there have been a few to step up. Tennessee, obviously, can't just roll the ball out there anymore and beat most Power 5 teams like they used to, but that probably has as much to do with other teams stepping up than Tennessee stepping back.

LV roster is what it is. Up to Harper to change it. As it is the program will stay 4th to 7th in the SEC. There is nothing special about their O system at all. Most are not in physical condition to be a top ten program. Half of them would never have received a recruiting call from Pat, much less an offer. Other than Davis and Burrell they are not athletic, slow, only one or two can handle the ball, poor shooters overall.

Second season for Kellie. Give her a couple more to build her roster her way and see where they are. The great LV days are over anyway. They killed them with Holly's selection. Had they hired Walz, or somebody like him, they could have become serious about the program again.

They play better than Holly's last year. About the same as Holly's first years. I see a similar trajectory. Not impressed, at all.
