Get over yourself. A couple of years ago, I was a part of a local leadership program that most reasonably sized cities have annually. It lasted 6 months, but our first meeting was a weekend retreat where we did outside activities like that. It was held at a location where corporations send their leaders, and it was outstanding.

What’s funny is people have complained about our team’s lack of an alpha or a lack of player leadership and no chemistry. This stuff teaches communication, teamwork, trust, and leadership. Things that an 85 man roster needs to succeed, and things these guys can use beyond football. My guess is that Josh Heupel himself has taken leadership training. Our last coach apparently had only taken “handout” training.

This! ^ Our players are young (17/18-21/22) - military sees good in it!

PS - I also participated in a program like this as part of a state-wide development program for young professional business/community leaders.

Good stuff! Don’t count myself as a wise father, but the one refrain I preached to my daughter was to value herself...or no one else would. If a friend or significant is trying to reduce you and you endorse it, it’s not going to get better. One thing took, I believe.

I'm of the opinion that the people who scoff at it or who are given to condescending tones when talking about it have never been involved with it. One of the purest forms of ignorance.

Pruitt was not a good DC. He was all hype. He couldn't teach our players to cover a slant in the course of a whole season. The guy built his rep on the backs of talented players. The guy's a fraud. The future will show it.
