I had a distant cousin by marriage on that team. Met him once at a family reunion when I was 9. I didn’t care much for basketball at that time but paid close attention because he was on the team

One of my favorite I was there sports moments of all time.

My Dad took me to the KY game in January of 1980. KY was one of the best teams in the country and had the freshman phenom Sam Bowie.

We had freshman Dale Ellis along with Reggie Johnson and Howard Wood, still 3 of my favorite Vols. Bert was on that team also.

Vols won a nail biter.

And I am pretty sure both my Dad and I got in with student tickets.

When I was a senior in high school, every frigging time I would walk into a classroom, I’d always hear “867-5309, Jenny Jenny, who can I turn to?” Stupid a$$ song.
