Heupel is going to have to coach up three star guys for a while. We just aren’t as attractive to the big schools yet when we recruit anyone they want even if they are a supposed “lifelong Vol Fan”.
Offense is going to be almost all 4+ stars starting this season (TEs the only group missing):

HB
Salter

Tiyon
CFA (?)

Hyatt
Wideman
Marley
Nixon
Keyton (?)
Calloway
Merrill

Mays
Mays
Wright
Lampley
Carvin

He'll catapult these cats and the recruits will follow. Don't get this idea that he'll just have to develop a bunch of 3 stars. We still have plenty of blue chips and he's a very strong recruiter and has hired even more on defense.

Serious question to you star experts out there How does a kid that plays 3A football get a 5 star ranking? There is a big difference in 6A and 3A. Also a huge difference in public and private school football. Not bashing the kid , just asking a legitimate question. Thanks for your input

Pretty simple. Look when he got his fifth star. He was a strong Bama lean. If he were truly interested in us, he would never have gotten the 5*. If Sam Horn or any other QB has teams like Bama, Clemson or OSU as one of their finalists, they usually get bumped up in the ratings.

Simpson did absolutely nothing to deserve his fifth star. Is he a really good QB? Yes. But he didn’t earn his fifth star. Did his stats eclipse Horn? Not even remotely close. Horns film looks just as good. The only thing Simpson may have over Horn is mobility. Horn lit up high level UGA HS football while Ty really hasn’t done that much in low level TN HS football.

I think from all indications he has the tools but the rude awakening that the competition level has has faced is why he is really a 2 or 3 year project in the end. Many think that he was going to come here and make an immediate impact and I don't believe that is the case no matter where he signs.

He said he wants to go where he can compete for National Championships and where coaches will help him get to the NFL.
(1) In all probability, UT will not win a National Championship during his time in college
(2) Our current coaches can probably get him ready for the NFL
(3) Bama has competed for and won the National Championship on a fairly regular basis
(4) Do the math
1+1 = Bama sucks

I mean Warren was a 5 star wasn’t he

Talent is talent. They can't help they play garbage competition.

I mean Trey Smiths school played some talented teams with some talented kids.

But I’ll agree. I will say this again though, my QB who set all the records at UTM for passing didn’t go to a Big school obviously and he was a better QB then Simpson.

I don’t think Simpson will do that well in college ball but that’s just me.

Face it. Tennessee is the best place on earth with the best fans waiting on a coach to turn the program back around and get the best players from wherever that want to be a part of it. The best players from most states are going to AL, OSU, CL and OK right now so only dumb people don't realize that.

Good players will not come to a school and hope that a coach could maybe turn it around. Nobody gives a damn about what could be. They care about what it is now. Right now Tennessee is a bottom 5 SEC school

Yeah coaching up 3 stars, like Sam Bradford, ya know.

Did he have a bad JR year?

He was already #43. Only needed to rise 11 spots based off JR tape. Hardly much of a move, really.

Kind of funny but it’s hard to find much about Tys stats. Max preps doesn’t show anything that would suggest anything close to a 5*. Horns stats are much better against much tougher competition.

yall wanted this spoiled coaches son?..he didn’t give a flying f*** about this university as much as we would like to think he did.give me Sam horn he’s got something to prove amd he’s hungry.

Ty Simpson gave Josh Heupel 4 days before eliminating Vols

On February 1, I knew it was Alabama for me,” said Simpson to Rivals.
As soon as my mind was made up, I was fired up about it,” added Simpson. “I was just waiting for the day I could tell everyone I am going to Alabama.”
The talented quarterback announced on January 31 that he would be committing on February 19 (it was pushed back to February 26 due to inclement weather). Heupel was hired at UT on January 27.
Simpson also said he eliminated Tennessee before deciding between Alabama and Clemson, which means it’s possible Simpson didn’t even give Heupel four days.

Despite knowing that he was going to Alabama, Simpson continued to talk to Heupel and the Vols’ offensive staff on a near-daily basis.
I’m sure there might be some folks who felt like Simpson led the Vols on, but I wouldn’t worry too much about that.”

I hope you are right

think most of us realized it was never happening

Read the eye sore of an article I just posted and check out his comments..f*** him he never gave a new incoming coach a fair deal.JH couldn’t help the situation he was hired into, atleast Horn is listening giving him the opportunity in winning him over.if TY “loved” the university as much as he claimed he would have gave JH that time to possibly win him over.
