I really wasn’t on the board between those posts. I think it proves the wisdom of waiting to be right. I checked the score, checked the board for trending bellyaching, responded, finished up some work and got prepared to go home, check score with seconds left, checked the board for expected InVoluntary smartassery and responded with coup de grace. 😎
Heaven forbid someone make an observation and comment on it. Who knew old involuntary would be called put for smartassery by the king of smartassery.? 🤣

So, not okay to question coaches when they're hired, but acceptable to wish players were gone?

And personally, I think AT should be a Safety. But that's JMO.

Agree and been saying it for two years. He should have remained a WR and probably would have been a star because he is physical as well as due to his natural instincts. But it has been clear for two seasons now that he thinks, acts and covers like a S. His ability to track the ball, physicality and ability to move forward are strong. But he is not a cover CB coming our of breaks. Add in he gets caught looking at the QB way too much for a CB.

Barnes kills me with this stuff. If pons and Fulky ain’t getting it done then rotate ON and Anosike in some reps to stay fresh and have dudes pushing people around down low getting rebounds.

I think Barnes has gotten in a few guys heads and their not taking it well. Vescovi isn’t confident. Passes up shots and not making the kind of plays he made last year passing. If you get on Barnes bad side good luck getting out

This ^^^ over and over and over again. Especially with ON.

We see why Barnes has trouble adjusting and closing in tight games as a strategist. It's clear that Fulky is hurting. He needs to heal and get his head right. Play the other guys and let them pound and gain experience. Defend the 3 point line and force the opponents to drive the lane and get fouled to score. That way you won't be giving up thirteen 3 pointers in game. If they get a 3 pointer it should be the hard, painful way.

We hear these same suggestions made by former coaches and analysts when it comes to UT all of the time. They are right. Hopefully, Chandler will remove some of Barnes' deficiencies next season.

Vescovi should be the third/fourth guy down to handle the ball - that's not even a debatable point. JS, KJ and VB should be who handles the ball with some help from JJJ. They can get it down the court better by passing more with less dribbling to reduce the TO's. Vescovi's only value on O is with the 3. He is too slow and left hand dominant to add value with the dribble drive. Still jumping in the air with the ball with nowhere to go with it. Enough of that noise. The O needs to go through Springer and two man games with KJ. Dribble drive and feed or score. Use cutters and rotate the ball for the open 3's to VB and SV. FWIW, Springer is at a different level than everybody else mentally. The rest need to step it up to where he is and he will not be forced to try to create O as much as he is now.

Solid game last night, we probably should have been able to ice Vandy by 20+ but I never felt worried we were going to lose that game. Just seemed to be in cruise control a bit and those young Vandy players shot lights out from 3.

when they cut it to 4 with about 4 min left.....i admit....the thought did cross my mind.

I mean, McBride & Thomas from 3 were just ridiculous. I'd love to say it was just us playing lazy defense, but quite a few of those that went in were just lucky. Thomas hit one in the corner where Bailey was so close to blocking it he probably scratched the ball.

Keon was off most the game, he seems to let the officiating and other team get into his head a bit more than other players. He was pressing defensively and offensively and had 6 TOs and 4 fouls because of it (leading the team in both).

Still not defending the 3 point line - game after game. If Vandy was not short handed they win that game last night if they hit their 3's. We have nobody that could handle Disu. He would have double doubled.

yeah, they took more than a couple of those shots from Jackson....lol.

the problem w/this team is just on the offensive end.....defense is still good. but it's almost like there's a switch that has to be turned on or something sometimes. they're good "in spurts" on offense. then they're bad....very few examples this season where they've been all bad, or all good.

i think if JJJ could ever hit that mid range jumper consistently, that would help.

i honestly believe that right now, when they need bucket...they look to Springer. and that just shouldn't be the case with the rest of the guys on the floor at any given time.

anyway, i'm not mad....but as we get in to post season play, i don't think there's a result out there that would surprise me at this point.

Most of Vandy’s 3’s weren’t because of bad D, they were just tough, lucky shots. A couple of times TN got lazy and put their hands down, but most were highly contested shots.

Agree!..Barnes can sometimes be his own enemy but we give him a pass because of the recruits he’s bringing in and the relevance he’s brought back to our basketball program but he has done some questionable things.

well, they didn't play. so i don't know what to tell ya.

vandy threw up a bunch of prayers last night. i'm not gonna say we defended the 3 well...we didn't. but they were ridiculously hot last night.......otherwise, we shut them down.

Agreed, AT plays better facing the defense, doesn't have great hip twist but has good break and pop. He's better suited as a safety.

Having said that I do believe he would be a better corner in an aggressive ball hawking defense, it suits his style of play.
Yeah it doesn't help when the corners are starting 10yds back on 3rd and 5. He's better if he can jam them at the line and play man. He is also pretty good at playing the run/sweep plays.

I just feel like no one really wants to drive to the rim. Our better teams of the past we had Bone and then even Turner who would just beat their guy to the rim and force the defense to stop them. Usually a wide open 3 on a kick out or a foul, otherwise a layup. I think Chandler will be that guy next year, and if Keon was more comfortable handling the ball as Springer he could be that guy for this team.

This team even with 3 5 star guards is more willing to take a 15 footer than go to the rim. Pons for the first time all year did it last night and dunked over 2 defenders....it's just a weird dynamic to have all these athletes and none of them like layups or dunks off the dribble...

eh...i don't know if i'd go so far as to say "highly" contested....Vandy did do a decent enough of a job of playing the inside out game and getting us to chase.

on the hands down deal, well, i do think some of those were cases of vandy just taking some low % shots we didnt' expect them to take from that particular spot on the floor.
