What’s scary? Other than none of us really knows what’s going on.
You don't have to know the details to see we are struggling to close on a candidate. If that doesn't concern you, particularly with offensive philosophy, I don't know what to tell you. Hopefully we get the right person.

I will say that this search not playing out in the public eye is refreshing though. It could be so much worse.

It’s assumed we are struggling. Don’t know for sure if that’s the case.

Perception? Reality is killing the DC search. The reality of where our program is right now and the fact that we are looking for a needle in a haystack, meaning we are swinging for the fences with our DC but the candidates know what they would be walking into and are choosing to stay in the safety of their current job. That's not perception. We just have to find the needle. The guy that loves a challenge and wants to come build something from the ground up. We will find him.

Here here, good man. Very well stated.

I'm not sure how else you explain the delay in closing the deal. But I appreciate your optimism, I sincerely hope I'm wrong and will gladly eat crow.
They said they wanted the right hire and may take their time in doing so..... they feel it is more important to make right hire than a quick hire.... it is just the fans panicking.

I really believe they are farther along than anybody knows and have been for some time. Something just has not added up about this whole thing and the simple fact that info faucets that once ran wide open seem to have been turned off and that has everybody uneasy since it's a new way of things being done.

You guys screaming embarrassment and acting like this is the worst thing ever is cracking me up. No one reporting things has an inking of what is going on.
That's the silver lining. But how else do you explain the delay in closing the deal? The obvious, most likely answer is we are struggling with interest.

Maybe, but I'm a proponent of using Occam's razor. I want them to get the hire right too, but there seems to be an issue with interest from those we have interest in.

I get your point, but the stories that have been put out there are all over the place. I almost think a large portion of the info we are hearing is put out there on purpose. All we can do is sit back and watch. Honestly, I'm not the first bit embarrassed by this at all. Shows me they aren't just settling, something we have done in the past

and damnit just hire Steele

At this point hiring Steele would certainly have the perception of settling, among most Vol fans whether or not the hire would be considered good bad or indifferent by the sports community in general. If they truly want to start new that means finding the right person and I don't think that a person in that lofty position needs to have any connection to Fulmer.

I honestly have no idea. Maybe we are struggling and striking out on everyone. Or maybe we haven’t really made that many legit offers? Who knows?

Many of you in here are the kind that pray. And I know many, many have asked for prayer. The Lord tells us to come to Him with our requests. So, I am asking you to pray for a fellow pastor and teacher named Voddie Baucham. If you search on YouTube I'm confident you'll find his messages quickly. I'm equally confident you'll be encouraged. Dr. Baucham has been diagnosed with heart failure. He's 52 with nine children, most whom are still at home. They live in Zambia where he's President of African Christian University. But they're asking for Christians everywhere to pray. If you go to a church that prays, would you mention this request tomorrow?

They've also set up a GoFundMe if you'd like to help.

Will definitely lift him and his family up.

We don’t have a clue if there is interest or not..... the only one I feel confident that we really negotiated with is Washington.

It takes 2 to tango!
Just like in the HC search y’all were claiming nobody wanted the job.
We know that was a lie, but truth was we didn’t want the ones that wanted us.
Same thing now. They are taking the time to find someone that wants the job and that we want.
