Conklin was only there the last year under Sunseri. Defensive staff was not great, and Conklin was young.

His defenses at Pitt were not very good.

I don’t even know who our offensive coordinator is. But I’m mad we don’t have a defensive coordinator. When we hire him, I’ll likely forget and get mad about something else.

She is currently serving as PE/MATH teacher at St. Marys and has been the DC of the flag football team for 8 months. The Weeping Sister lead their league in fewest points given up and fewest yards gained in last years campaign ending with a 3-1 record and a tie for their league championship. So I didn't realize Scott Frost took most of his staff from UCF to Nebraska. We can all tell how that went.... But that's what JH is doing on offense as well, taking his offense from UCF here. Hope it turns out differently than Nebraska...

Somebody said that Frost got away from what he did at UCF to appease the Nebraska geizers. No idea if there is a shred of truth in that.

I agree 100% with your first part. As for the second, I had 0 expectations that we would be able to pull a top tier guy. We are a tough sell.

I think all our candidates have similar charecteristics and style so not much difference in the top or bottom.

Perception? Reality is killing the DC search. The reality of where our program is right now and the fact that we are looking for a needle in a haystack, meaning we are swinging for the fences with our DC but the candidates know what they would be walking into and are choosing to stay in the safety of their current job. That's not perception. We just have to find the needle. The guy that loves a challenge and wants to come build something from the ground up. We will find him.
