Just two things.... The existence of one doesn't nullify the other. True. But the argument of "white privilege" definitely nullifies the fact that there are very poor white people in America. Some of those white people choose to become criminals because they are desperate also. Some of those have told me that being in prison is easier for them because they can get their teeth fixed before they get out, and they have no worries. Not to argue that any of what you said is wrong, or that we should not work to fix the injustices. But choosing to become a criminal is a choice. Now let's work to give those that want a better way a chance to get it. It needs to start in people helping people. Communities helping communities. The federal government can't do anything that truly overcomes the problems if those are not in place. It does boil down to economics, but who has controlled the economic discussion in this country for 400 years, white people or black people?
This is a great article about the practice of “redlining” Dividing Lines: Redlining in Louisville - Louisville
A process of systemically driving down the property values and loan and banking opportunities of black people in the city of Louisville.
I spent 15+ years in Louisville as a legal aid attorney, a criminal prosecutor, and a trial court judge. There are FACTUAL analyses of the racial populations being processed through our justice system. Black people are arrested, convicted, and sentenced WAY disproportionately to their percentage of the population.
It starts with them getting arrested more. Why? Because there’s more cops in the “black” areas of town than in my affluent, predominantly white neighborhood. Why? Because there’s more crime happening there. Why? Because people there are poor and desperate. Why? It all goes back to economics...
My home value has risen consistently over the years. Many homes in the black area of town are plagued with stagnant or even declining home values. Try to get a loan to start a business in that scenario. What collateral you got? What school are you going to go to? What neighborhood mentors are you going to be exposed to as a child as you formulate either positive or negative life behaviors?
I’m sorry to contribute to this thread derailment, but there absolutely is a history in this country of systemic government, financial, and societal structures set up contrary to the well being and success of black people.
*Poor, struggling white people definitely exist. I grew up in East Tennessee. I know what that looks like. But the existence of one doesn’t nullify the other.

T Rob is a fantastic recruiter and a good DB coach. He is a very average DC. I would prefer ConklinHiring T-Rob is not a win.
Am I the only one who watched USCe defense the last few years?
“Our defense has sucked so let’s go hire the DC from one of the few teams in the league that had a worse defense than us”
When I lived in Malaysia, it was established law.College admissions show clear biases by race, where some lesser qualified applicants are selected over more qualified ones. I'm not going to argue against the need uplift those who need it, but to say it isn't happening is provably false. I can't say whether that continues after college, but I suspect it does to some extent. I am an employer and would love to hire women or minorities into engineering roles, but there aren't many of either lining up at my door.

DC is a lot different than DB coachYou guys are being silly not wanting T-Rob. There is a reason Muschamp wanted him at Florida, Auburn and South Carolina and why Manny Diaz jumped at the opportunity to hire him at Miami. He’s a excellent DB coach and recruiter. Has ties all over the southeast. This isn’t the days of defenses holding opponents to 10 while your offense scores17. He would be serviceable as a DC with how explosive our offense should be in the near future.

It's easy for us to make fun of this administration for not hiring people as quickly as we would like. I would love to know what the conversations are with the prospective hires. With the money that has been floated, it would seem like a no brainer and an easy decision. We don't know what the objections are from these guys so it's impossible to make an accurate assumption about our administration. I'm gonna just hold off and see what shakes out. This admin could muck up a wet dream.
I wouldn’t complain at all about T Rob. Especially if he brought T Will. We would recruit some studs.Correct, but with this offense we are never going to be a top 10 type of overall defense.
However, we can be a top 10 in takeaways and with T Rob’s ability to recruit and coach press man coverage with DBs that could match well with Hypes offense.
You can make a strong argument Muschamp and T Rob accomplished much more with less when it comes to DBs vs Pruitt/Ansley.
What did he do wrong? It was all allegations and he denied them. So it’s a “he said”, “she said” situation....Iowa paid him a $1M to go away. Then he fell up into a new job 9 months later. He never admitted to anything, or apologized. While he shouldn't be ruined for life, he needs to pay some sort of pennance.
Finding the balance between any 6 color preference and fully equal opportunity is the challenge.I will say this again...racism is not a white problem, it is a human problem. Replacing white preference for other color preference is not equality, and is not the road to equality...it is the road to disaster.
