Thank you.
I have these conversations often enough that it’s a pretty comfortable space. Mostly, Bc I’ve been blessed to have friends from so many different backgrounds. And we all listen and challenge each other. We don’t always agree but we respect each other enough to actually listen and be empathetic.
We all have soooo much more in common than we do differences.

100%.

One thing this old warhorse knows from his personal as well as work life is that we are all a lot more alike than not regardless of skin color, religion, culture, etc. We all have crap to overcome in our lives. Nobody is exempt. We are better when we help one another deal with it and enjoy life together. That's the stuff you will remember - the great times you had and friendships you made.

Having been upper management for 3 Fortune 50 companies I can tell you that’s not always the case, and that’s where a lot of people’s cynicism comes from.

I can assure you I’ve been the person to hire based off most qualifies and what’s always chapped me is when I have got accolades for hiring a minority like I did something special when the fact is that person deserved the accolade for doing a good job.

I despise virtue signaling
Diversity hiring, has its plus’s and minus’s.
I work at a company with 1400 employees.
They keep lots of applications on hand.
We have teams, 8 on mine, when 1 leaves the team is given 6-10 applications to look through, pick 2-3,interview and pick who we want to work with. Not 1 time though, we were given 2 , female. Basically being told hire a woman.
1 we passed on was hired by another team and lasted a few months because she was terrible.
The one we picked , easily the best of the 2 has been a pain in the a$$ for us for 5 years and we hope she finds a new job, soon.

Moral of the story we were forced to choose 1 of 2 lousy candidates when there were many more better available, because of diversity.

Be prepared to be called a chauvinistic woman hater.

Just how many black coaches do we have to be turned down by before we can be considered "inclusive"? Do we need to get to DIV II? Juco? Highschool? We've attempted to hire African Americans for both the head coach and the DC position and have been turned down each time. In two cases they were first time opportunities. We need to hire the best coach for the job rather than by the color of their skin. I wouldn't even want to be hired because of my race. To me it would be insulting.
It’s just not the world we live in

I’m certainly aware of how as a middle class white man, I experience life from that perspective.

I’ve also been blessed in my line of work to live as a minority for years in Asia, sometimes from a place of privilege, and sometimes disdained for being an American. I’ve been on both sides.

Our former pastor who married us was African American and I have the privilege of speaking in predominantly African American churches too. I feel like I’m kind of rambling now and I’m not sure it’s even relevant 😂 I’m tired

I’m pretty sure we are in agreement @I4Jay
🤜🏻🤛🏾
Dang Nick, I always thought you were a black dude

And you can NEVER let them go in that circumstance either. Who it really demoralizes is the good workers of all sexes and colors because they are stuck working with people that aren’t competent and then they in turn lose all respect for management for not doing their job. It’s a tiring death spiral and it’s totally unnecessary.

I have always thought if we can't have a little fun, try to brighten somebodies day, take some of the bad that we all are going through and make it a little better and even laugh at ourselves wholeheartedly we are missing a opportunity that was given to us for a reason.

If that makes me a little crazy I accept that with a smile.

I’m just so sick of the division in this world man.

I don’t care who you are, what you look like, if your skin is slightly darker than mine, etc..I’m still gonna love you & I’d do anything I possibly could to help out anybody on this site.

We’re never all going to agree on everything, & we may fight like brothers & sisters, but we can still all love each other. We all want the University of Tennessee to succeed & finally be a national power in football again. The things we disagree on are literally so minuscule in the grand scheme of life it doesn’t even deserve a wasted breath.

I just hate everyone equally

you can copy the link to the tweet and paste the link... PSA (if you weren't aware)

If you were aware, disregard.

I was not aware and wondered how everyone was doing it lol. Thanks. Although on those posts I was wanting to share the posts and their new headers, screen shot accomplished both. Plus, I do most of my volnation browsing at work and I am not able to see Twitter posts, so I appreciate the screen shots lol. Thanks tho because I was wondering how to do it.

If you are willing to fight even harder for those that you often fight with then this nation has a chance. I will always fight for the rights of those I disagree with just as hard as for those that I do agree with. That is what this nation is supposed to be about in the first place.

Thanks for posting the screenshots - I deactivated Twitter so much easier to see this way.

the biggest misconception in diversity hiring is that hiring a person of color means you’re sacrificing quality.

What your doing is giving a person of color with comparable resume and qualifications a shot to **** things up as badly as the previous non-diverse hire did. LOL
What you are doing is hiring a person because of their skin color...period. That is racism, it is preferential treatment for a particular race..which is wrong...period. That is not equality, it is the very essence of inequality.

You don't fix this by committing an egregious wrong like that. I don't know how this is so hard to understand.

I don't care what nationality or color someone is...I just want them to hire the person they want because they think it is the best candidate available...not the best black candidate available.

This stuff is not the road to equality...it is the road to ruinous division and resentment. It will cause hatred where there was none.

Must be rough not having the common sense to realize nothing on a MB should be taken as gospel, even if it's from an insider. People can be wrong. Situations can change. Real life is always moving. Tearing down others because you hate yourself isn't going to change things. So what if AV misses on predictions? Doesn't change the good deeds he's done. Doesn't justify you being an ass hat.
So I say a generalized statement about how nobody cares what an “insider” who’s always wrong says and and then you accuse me of speaking for everyone, having a giant ego and now after I say sorry for offending you you personally attack me? Congratulations. You did It. You do realize you’ve completely speculated what I was insinuating to try and insult me. Must be rough to not have common sense? Maybe look in the mirror and wipe off some of that clown makeup.

Playing devil's advocate a little here, but white people, mostly men, have received preferential treatment for centuries, if not mellinnia. I'm not justifying hiring someone because they're a minority, I'm just saying white males have almost never gotten the bad end of the shaft, period. It really has been a ridiculous run.
