And, good, or bad, I'm DA Select for Army Recruiter, so I'm not going to a military base. I had six places to choose from and I got to rank them:

1. Nashville (covers Tennessee and lots of Kentucky)
2. Raleigh (Covers North Carolina)
3. San Antonio (covers South Texas (due to my inability to speak Spanish, this might be a no go))
4. Tampa, Fl (covers central Florida)
5. Houston (east Texas)
6. Syracuse (western upstate NY)

Knowing the Army, I won't wind up in any of those places.

Other than coming home to Nashville I would have listed San Antonio as choices 2 - 6. You can learn to habla espanol.

I would be willing to buy a house in Tennessee or Carolina. Not sure about San Antonio. Also, I could only list each once. I figure I'm moving to Montana and moving in with NE

We have sensible cold in AVL.

When we were at Fort Sam, my mother would get caught on the golf course when those gales came down from Canada and temps would drop 40 degrees on the back nine.

Well again, that’s just where battalion is, but it wasn’t one of the six possibilities

Ive done a rotation at both polk and Irwin. Both suck big time. Personally i think polk is worse. Hated every bit of it. Alot had to do with the OCs. No matter what your rank was, they talked down to you big time & treated you like you were a private. OCs in Irwin were actually pretty cool. They would take the time to teach you what you did wrong & show what you shoulda done.I will say i had an uncle who was stationed at Irwin & he loved it. He had 6 weeks in between rotations coming thru, so the had some downtime. He said 2 hrs one was you were in vegas, 2 hrs the other way he was in LA.
