2002 is a long stretch from 2021. SEC is a different offensive and defensive league.

He's the only name other than Conklin mentioned with any on-field SEC experience though...

Orlando = 0 years in the SEC
Brown = 0 years in the SEC (One year at Ole Miss as a GA)
Washington = 0 years in the SEC

But he's been in the NFL...which is a step-up from the SEC, you yourself said the SEC was "NFL-Lite" so why wouldn't you want a former NFL DC here over a guy with no DC experience, or guys with no SEC experience?

This job is a much bigger gamble for an up and comer. If he flops, it could potentially cripple his career. If Rodgers flops, he could be back in the NFL coaching DL the very next day.
Dude, some people in here were ready to hang Pruitt for saying the same thing about going back to Bama if it didn't work out at UT.

Guarded Lofton in HS. 2/10 do not recommend.

By far the nicest of all the good players I’ve ever played against. Didn’t talk sh*t, just rocked you to sleep with 2 left handed dribbles across half court and then lit you up.

Not that anyone is wondering but the “1/10 do not recommend” is reserved for guarding OJ Mayo (freak athlete, skilled, not nearly as gentlemanly as Lofton, will posterize you when given the chance) and Ross Neltner (bc he is 6’9”).

The 2/10 was no disrespect to Lofton. He’s my all time fav Vol bball player.

Big difference between a fan saying it and a HC of a university actually telling someone that because he was tired of everyone criticizing him. Basically insinuating your ready to quit

Did not turn out to have as good of a career as Lofton, but I played against and worked out with Jimmy Braddock. Jimmy does have a National Championship ring so he was no slouch.

I didn’t. Very different circumstances between Washington and Rogers. Washington was better off turning it down but Rogers not so much

I hate to agree with Bruin, but I actually understand Washington turning us down a lot. Cause there's a very real possibility that Ohio State's DC gets a HC job after next season and Washington could be in line to be the replacement at Ohio State.

I feel like Rodgers may not be so lucky at landing a DC job.

I was thinking about it and I played against some dudes. Most of them nobody has ever heard of even if they went D1, but in HS they were unstoppable.

OJ was the best tho. At one point I was convinced he was the next MJ.

I think Rodgers likely is done as a DC like you say in the NFL so coming to us is likely his only shot. Washington will have plenty of options even if it’s not Ohio state.
