Bingo... Give me a new energetic up and comerI don't understand the Kacy Rodgers love. He is a very good DL coach, but as a DC in the NFL his defense allowed:
2015: 19.6 PPG (9th)
2016: 25.6 PPG (28th)
2017: 23.9 PPG (22nd)
2018: 27.6 PPG (29th)
Now getting to be a DC in the NFL is a hell of an accomplishment, but he hasn't recruited since 2002 when he was the DL coach at Arkansas. He may be great here, but I don't see how you can be so optimistic about hiring a 51-year-old position coach who failed as an NFL DC. The college game is obviously very different from the NFL, but this feels like a stretch. He played way before I was born, but if we continue to suck (which seems likely), I would like to avoid disliking another former Vol while doing it.

Similar to Bowles defense last year compared to this year. Less negative plays by the offense was the biggest change.I think these are valid concerns. I will say I don't think those Jets teams could score points and they turned the ball over a ton and left the defense in bad spots regularly. When the offense gave them a chance the defense was pretty good. They just were bad bad teams that honestly just got worse after Bowles left.
I have no clue what Kacy would do here. But I don't think we would suck or be out of position all the time anymore. I would hope he could get us to playing fundamentally sound defense again and flying to the ball. I would guess he's capable of at least that.
I’m trying to figure out why Kacy Rodgers is exciting. I know he played here but just speaking as a Jet fan he had a lot of young talent on the defense and did nothing with it.

Thanks for the research.Doesn't tell the full story.
Defensive Drives ending in scoring by % (lower is better)
2015: 28.4% (5th)
2016: 37.7% (20th)
2017: 33.3% (15th)
2018: 39.1% (24th)
Also finished top 12 every single season he was the DC in total yards given up, their terrible offense gave up a lot of those PPG and put them in less favorable positions.
Agreed, I don't like Franklin, I think JH and Elliot are similar hires. Elliott would have recruited better IMO but I believe JH has the better offensive mind and has experience running a program. We could have done much worse IMO.I wasn't super excited about Heupel but still like the hire a lot more than if it had been Elliott or Franklin. E didn't have any HC experience, which is especially important with this hire. Plus he could have been another Pruitt, success with good players already in place. And Franklin is just an ass. Hiring him would have been asking for trouble down the road IMO.
