DW is going to announce the entire staff tonight and be laughing at how he fooled everyone. (I hope)

Basically if you fail it’s because it was a lose lose situation. But.... IF you win you’re gonna be courted by a lot of teams. NFL teams, head coaching jobs in the P5. The upside from the business aspect far outweighs the negative IMO. Obviously, I don’t think anyone knows his family situation, so there is always that to take into consideration.
It is a WIN WIN situation for any coach wanting to advance their career from position coach or DC in a smaller division. IMHO I wouldn't want somebody that has turned down twice their salary just because the possibility of moving up someday is thrown out there, nothing is for sure It just shows me that they don't have the drive to prove they are capable of facing a challenge unless they have everything set up for them so they are somewhat guaranteed to succeed.

Steele and Rodgers. Noted. Need more names that will result in facepalms from you, please.

Steele gets the facepalm bc ppl keep asking why we don’t hire him when it’s painfully onvious Heup doesn’t want him as DC.

The other facepalms are reserved for posters who continually throw out former Vols for positions on the staff bc apparently you had to play at UT to coach at UT. Now, any of those cats might be great here. It’s just every 2.5 pages someone throws out a name just bc the guy played here. That’s it, that’s the qualification. No matter if Heup wants them or not.

Those names are:

Steele
Rodgers
Kevin Simon for any role
Jerod Mayo
Tee Martin for any role

This list continues to grow

I think it simply comes down to "I can go there and be bad for a few years and try to build something through sanctions or I can wait a year and possibly get a similar offer at a place ready to succeed on Day 1."
